Rebuild kits

Hey, I have a 85 rx7 gsl and the engine won't turn. I have decided to go ahead and do a rebuild on the motor. What rebuild kit is the best one for around 1k? And what kind of apex seals should I get if I plan to run boost apart from super expensive ceramic seals? Any suggestions help!!

My suggestion is to tear the engine apart and evaluate the condition of the usable parts. This will give you an idea if the extra parts needed and cost to rebuild.

If your talking about boosting and doing a rebuild, my suggestion there is to not do the 12A rebuild and buy a s4 turbo block with all the goodies. After everything is said and done, including maybe rebuilding the s4, price wise you would be surprised to find it might be cheaper.

Can't go wrong with an Atkins kit but there are also other good ones.

The turbo is going to come later on when I get more things for it. Right now I plan on street porting the engine and just getting the car on the road before I can really do a turbo. So Atkins?

Also, there is no plug and play turbo for a 12A so you would need to piece something together and do all the fab work. Whatever turbo you do for a 12A, it has to work with a carb.

if this is your first build, you will get a lot of great not-in-the-service-manual tips with Mazdatrix 13B rebuild DVD. $29 well spent...
