Question Rearend or Drive shaft?

Hi, I have a 85 gsl-se and i have a problem. My car kinda clunks when shifting and when i hit 30 it shakes like crazy. I always thought it was my rear end because thats what my bro told me, it was his old car. Well i was reading on here and read a thread that sounded just like my problem and everyone said it was the drive shaft, u joints. so i called my bro and then he was like yea, thats probably it and said he was just guessing it was the rear end ...ccccrrazzzy.. Ne ways, I hope i made the right descion and bought a drive shaft, since the u joints dont come seperate on my model..or thats what i was told on here.I know i prolly shoulda checked it out first but the place was gonna close in an hour and my friend, who does all my car work since hes a rotory nut, is coming over tomorrow and lives kinda far from me. So i wanted to get the work done tomorrow....I guess my real q is what is the difference in the rear end and drive shaft problems?
I got the drive shaft for$80 and the rear end was 150. that was also something that took play into my descesion. If it doesnt work out atleast i got a new drive shaft. I just hope i made the right choice, but i was wondering the difference. Oh yea, and another thing, I bought the drive shaft which is for an 84rx7, will that fit my 85? they said it would :

yes 84 and 85 are the same. as for the clunking. it could also be the transmission mounts.

Your new driveshaft should fit and solve your problems.
