Rear wiper sprayer

Here's the issue. Turn on the rear wiper and the sprayer continuously sprays until it empties the bag ... then the alarm screams until it's unplugged. Could it be a faulty dash switch, a ground? I'm in the dark with electrical but with suggestions in the right direction I can fix it.

Thanks in advance.

What year car is this? I'd start with the switch as relays were all too absent with the FBs original wiring causing the switches themselves to carry the surge load when you turn things on. The acrcing in the switch caused carbon? buildup on the contacts that attracts dirt and faulty connections. I cleaned my switches last year when installing power windows and the switches work 100% again. It cleared up my flickering hi-beam issue. I recommend putting a relay into the circuit.

The good news is that the rear washer system works, not many still do. It sounds like the switch on the dash panel may be faulty, you might want to diagnose this (pull it out and use a multimeter to see if it turns the circuit on and off) or you cold just pick up a used one and give it a try, they are pretty easy to find (I have a brown one, if that's your interior color).

Good luck, never heard this problem before!

Thanks for the quick responses. The car is an '84 GSL. The motor harness on the bag was unplugged when I bought the car and the wiper motor was seized. I replaced the motor and have an operational rear wiper now but the sprayer blows its load when plugged in. I'll try cleaning the switch but ultimately I probably need to search one out. I do have a brown interior. PM me with a price + shipping.

Lower right toggle switch with the wiper blade on it. Push the wiper switch on down below the on position for the rear washing fluid.
