rear glass hatch shock holder thing
i've been looking at possible replacement for those black pieces that sit outside the glass since mine are all worn out with over the yrs putting diff screws and what not (previous owners not me) i've searched high and low in every local junkyard to just come up empty handed, is there any direction i can be pointed in to get a lil more of a permenant fix, btw there are like no 1st gen's in any junkyards close by and if there is one it's just a bare shell with no glass no int or anything, any help is greatly appreciated thnx in advance
I hope I am not violating policy by informing you I just looked and saw auctions one from RX7 addict/Apex auto sales and the other from Rotary Restoration...both on ebay...typed in "RX7 Triangle"

just replace the outer parts with used ones since they are no longer available. they fail and strip because of worn hatch struts and they wiggle when stripped. sometimes they loosen up and people overtighten them when reightening and strip them.
Rotary Restorations has a store on ebay. If you don't see what you want on his store, email him, he can usually get you what you want. In fact I think he sent me some of those as a bonus on something I ordered.
If that doesn't work then I know there's a 78 and an 83 sitting in our pull and pay I can run and get you some for shipping.

Kerberus and his crew are always asking about things that can be made and sold for first gens... they ought to ask their machinist what it would cost to mill some of these out of aluminum & anodize them. Seems a fairly common request, both the ones for hatches and the smaller ones for glass sunroofs.
Can't be very challenging, from a machining point of view. Lathe-turned and tapped aluminum part. You could almost hand-cut something that would work.
