'79 to '82 rear end swap BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER.

A long time ago, it swapped out my '79 LE rear-end (actually, my cars' rear end) for an '82 GSL LSD/disc brake rear end.
.
I DID NOT change the brake master cylinder.
.
All this time, I have been wondering if I should have also swapped master cylinders.
.
Would I get better brake performance with the '82 master cylinder?
.

Just got the LSD rear end stripped out of my parts car... Tomorrow is removing misc parts and hopefully sandblasting it so I can have it ready for paint and undercoating this weekend.

Yes it was a GS with GSL badges... I have purchesed my old 82 GSL and removing all GSL parts and moving them into the 83 GS with GSL badges. So it would be a GSL model once I am finished so if I am missng anyting that should be swapped over to make it a true GSL please let me know.

84-85 all have large bearings in the rearend therefore if you need an axle only for your gsl you could use one from an s or gs.
dave are you the original owner of the car? and does the car have power window?

no I am not the original owner, it was sold to me as a GSL but after some learning on my part I found out it has GS trim not GSL and it had GSL badges on it. No there was not power windows but now there are since I bought my old one back to part out and scrap. So I am pulling all the GSL parts off and putting them on my 83 that was a GS and now will be a full trim GSL.

yeah I went through the same crap when I was learning a good while back. I bought a 83 and the owner told me it was a gsl, his proving point was ... well it has a sunroof it turned out to be a gs as well.

If you updated your rear drum brakes to disc you should probably update your proportioning valve.

I was thinking of taking the entire master cylinder and all... I did not see a valve inline on the brake line, but I will look again to make sure.
