Rear Brake Swap

I have a 1980 SA and I’m putting in a 85 rear-end with LSD(four lug).
The 85 rear-end has vented rotors. I want to use the non-vented rotors. Can I buy the non-vented rotors and the calipers that go with them and just bolt them up?
Thanks,
Vin

The SE had the vented rotors so the lug pattern would be different on the axle as well. The only way to put GSL non vented brakes on your 85 axle, would be to also swap in GSL axles.
Why not use the SE brakes, they are bigger around and the venting is superior to solid discs?

weight

I just don't think I'll be heating the rears enough to need vented brakes. Is getting the axles tough? I don't really mind the work, but I want to get this done soon.
Thanks for the info,
Vin

Since you have the rarest, biggest and most desired rear axles/brakes among 1st gens, you shouldnt have any problems finding someone willing to trade them for regular GSL axles and brakes. Most guys WANT the bigger, vented SE brakes/axles because of the more common 114.3MM lug pattern.
Just find someone with an 84-85 GSL thats looking to buy/trade/upgrade to GSL-SE rear brakes and axles. It would be an easy, direct swap for both of you and you might even come away with some money for the bigger SE brakes, in trade.

Wow...

Wow, the way you put it, it makes me sound crazy to want to swap!
But... if I use the GSL-SE(4 X 114.3) in the back what do I do about the 1986 Big Brake swap(5 X 114.3) in the front? I guess I could have different wheels front and back.
Thanks for the great input,
Vin
