A Rear Bearing, The Differential, or Both?

I have a 1983 GSL with 38K and the stock drivetrain with LSD, stock rims and 205/60-13 tires. I've noticed over the last few weeks when starting out in 1st and turning to the left, I get a a series of 2-3 little grab/slip events on starting out. No noise, just the sensation.

A more recent new thing is a noise on the right rear, it can be heard when coasting, clutch in or out, turning left up a slight elevation into my driveway. Not grinding so much as a slight clunk. I also heard this same noise from the right rear when traveling straight and hitting a bump in the road. The suspension components are tight, raising the car and rotating the wheels I feel no resistance/bearing grind noise and pushing the wheel in and pulling out with hands at 3 and 9 there is an ever so slight tick, but no discernible movement trying to push at 9 and pull at 3, vice versa and same at 12 and 6.

I've changed the diff fluid yesterday, mineral 75w-90 with friction modifier for lsd. The old stuff was still golden (synth 75w-90 with friction modifier), no chunks on the diff magnet, but a small layer of fine metallic, and some very very small flakes. When hotter, the diff will howl a bit under acceleration, quiet with no power on it.

I'd take off the LSD cover and poke around but I don't really know what to look for. I would appreciate your thoughts!

edit: Cover? what cover? in my brain there was a cover, until I just looked at the diff.

edit: the noise seems to come from the passenger rear, but the driver rear bearing has the slight tick when pushing in/out.

the grab/slip thing is the LSD, if you did a couple/few figure 8's in a parking lot, it should fix it.

Gave it a go with tight 8's and circles, still doing the same thing. So I guess the clutch discs are wearing a bit? Is adding more friction modifier a thing to try? It's more of an annoyance at this point but I'm okay with it as long as I'm not doing any long term damage to the differential.

I know right? We need a "tail of the dragon" type drive here in the northeast. I've owned it since Sept of 2010, bought in Ohio and drove back to Mass, sight unseen. Even with the shot bushings in the idler arm it was a good trip!

I grew up in CT, and we had some good roads there (RT 140). But nothing that had all the attributes of the Tail:
- tight turns
- lots of turns
- no side streets
- cops that mostly turn a blind eye
- nice scenery

Nevertheless, I'm sure you'll find some good ones in MA if you go west --> https://www.onlyinyourstate.com/mass...ads-scenic-ma/
