Re-Wiring factory Clarion stereo
I have spend the last 20 minutes trying to figure what to search for to find what I need and came up with nothing. So here is my post.
I am trying to install the factory Clarion Double Din stereo into a buddies car and the factory wiring has been cut, so I am trying to figure which wire plugs into what on the back of the stereo itself. I have seen the a few wiring diagrams posted :such as the one posted below: but they had no color codes nor did it have the connector that goes into the tape deck part in the back. Does anyone happen to have the three plugs that went into the back of the stereo where that can take a picture or draw something simple up for me?
any help would be great!
thanx,
-vern

Have you tried the webpage under trochoids sig. Here it is. It has wiring diagrams and everything for the 7 basically. http://www.wankel.net/~krwright/cars/rx7/manuals.html

yes i have, but it seems to use one wire in two seperate locations, and if I can recall right from when I took a stereo out there were no spliced wires. According to the wire diagram in the manuel it say to use the dimmer wire which is red/green in two locations, I am not quite sure this is correct.
Was hoping someone had a picture or had these clips laying around and could clairify.

You probably just need the dimmer output connected to both the radio/amplifier part of the stereo as well as the EQ. This is just a wild guess, but since all the componants use their own connectors, and arent daisy chained this would be logical. If thats what seems weird, I would just hook it up like it says. If thats not it, then perhaps tell us where exactly the dimmer switch wires go?

Wait, I looked at the picture this time, and it seems the EQ is daisy chained.
If your wondering why the illum. is listed twice in that picture, the "to equilizer" section is a direct link from the head unit, and wont require any splicing or extra wiring. It should just be one cord that connects the head unit to the EQ and distributes power/etc to the EQ.
Looks like you just have to wire up the 2 connectors on the right of the diagram, and the 3 Plugs to their appropriate destinations.

If the plug ends were cut from the body harness, head for the wreckers and snag them. I think there are a couple of jumper cables, but it's been so long since I scrapped one out I don't remember. If you can snag the plugs, then it should be as simple as matching the wire colors and splicing them in.

Finding a seven in the junk yards around here is nearly "Impossible", if you are lucky enough to find one it is stripped all the way down to even people taking the bolts and screws just to have them "I am guilty of doing this" ;]

if so the schematic says that the "audio system wire"(im assuming the 12V) is Blue red and the antenna is Blue white. the illumination could be a red green maybe?? im not sure try that and if it doesnt work i will look at mine.

ok in your pic you posted the single connector labeled as A is 12V and is blue and yellow, the 3 prong according to your pic A = antenna relay which is blue green, B = illumination and is blue, C = 12V and is red green. hope that helps i guess the schematic in the fsm didnt show the right wires.

on the top left that is the constant power. you need this plugged to keep on your radio even if its off. if you dont have this then you will need to hold the tuner button to get a display but it still wont give u sound.
top right is for the antenna power, radio power, and illumination i believe. needs to be plugged.
the bottom is the tape deck i believe that plug if to power it.
im not sure but these are similar plugs i had to find out what they were when i put back in the premium sound system for my 82 gsl. good luck

Thanx for letting me know which each plug is....think I posted a diagram that showed this..
But the main question here is ....
****Which Color wire goes to which connector?****
I am happy that so many peepz would like to help but we are on page two and have yet resolved my problem. I have not had time to get out there and mess with the car to give it a trial and error job. So, was hoping to get an answer from someone that might have the plugs install and could simply snap a picture and post which would only take 5 minutes. Or someone that could clarify which Color wire hooks to which spade connector.
thanx for the post peepz....but Please...someone post some wirec olors and the proper place to plug that specific wire....
