Sounds interesting, but hinges would be a must. Also hood would be awesome, I've always been a big fan of the TII style hood, though being carbed I can't use one.

I completely agree. There is no ready available source for the front hinges and bolts for the glass sun roofs and they are different in both the hing and the bolts going from the glass to steel roof.

Also as Ive found even attempting to remove the screws/bolts out of a glass roof is an agonizing experience, and tha'ts if you can even get them out with out snapping the bolts. All hat being said I'm glad to see new products being offered by Re-Speed I'm not sure if I need this (still considering purchasing), but you would definitely have a better product if you included the hinges etc.

Sam, So what would the saving be over the light metal panel? Post that with the hardware issue fixed and you probably will sell alot.

All the weight will be documented as any product that I will be developing for weight saving purposes. I'm not sure if you guys are aware of this or not, but I have started documenting weight differences on the website as shown in here:

If there's any way possible, I would like to have a system where when you check out to your shopping cart online, it would calculate all weight savings in a section.

I don't really see much of advantage over a stock metal roof. I do know the S1-S2 cars had lighter (flimsier) roofs than the S3 cars. But other than on an actual track car, - what benefit would you get from a fiberglass top?

You get a louder, hotter car with no interior panel to cover your exposed fiberglass top.

Just my 2 cents.

I think this effort could be put into other projects - like the Airbox one..
(Said in strictly selfish terms).

Thats exactly where its suppose to be used. Its no different than saying, whats the purpose of installing a carbon fiber hood (just a stock replacement that is and not vented or any of that sort).

Having said that, a lighter vehicle, is more economical than a heavier (gas mileage wise) ... not that most of you care about that, but I do

if were worried about weight just drive with the sunroof removed, also, the reduction of weight from higher position on the vehicle will be more beneficial then reduction of weight lower in the vehicle. So potentially this could be worth it to some people. Personally I like the glass roof the best so the sun can shine in

I'm no scientist but I would assume you removing the sun roof would create turbulence which would translate to more drag, I might be wrong though. Also the more weight you shave from the top of the car, the lower your center of gravity which translates to better cornering, a pound here and there do add up.

What size screw goes in the button nut? Thread pitch and length? Also on the toyota sienna button nuts, did you have to trim them at all?
