Question RB header, presilencers, AND cat. Has anyone done it?

Yup, just like the title says...... Just wondering if anyone's put a system together like that. RB tells me there isn't enough room for a cat. They say it'll work if the presilencers aren't installed but it will be WAY loud. I've never seen the RB exhaust system so it's hard for me to gauge. What's your opinion? TIA

PS- need cat for smog test.

There is room...rex in the driveway has 2" dia primaries X 26" long into a 2.5" X 2" collector into a 2.5" 3 way cat 8" from the collector flange into a 2.5" Edelbrock RPM muffler (better pre-silencer?...) before the axle into custom splitter over the axle which feeds into 2 (two) 2" Flowmasters...if all that fits, I can't see why you should have a problem...

The cat should act as a presilencer, FWIW. Not "way loud".

That should be quiet as hell, the stock exhaust on my 85gs w/gutted cat isn't even loud.

As long as you have the Primaflow muffler you'll probably be alright for volume, never tried it though.

I'm quoting myself to make a point here......

I just completely rebuilt my exhaust system. Here's my setup: a Racing Beat header, the Mazdatrix cat (gray area), a custom connecting pipe and the Racing Beat Power Pulse muffler.

Since I needed the cat-muffler connecting pipe fabricated I decided to have my local "muffler guy" install the whole deal instead of doing it myself. Additionally, I knew any "muffler guy" would try to install normal boinger "stuff" so I brought him ALL the parts including the .120 wall tubing for my connecting pipe. I didn't want to take any chances. Anyway, when I arrived he told me to pull the car up on the ramps. I then opened my hatch and started handing him the parts, first the header, then the muffler, etc. He was amazed at how heaving and well built all the stuff was. And it IS heavy! He joked that any hp increase I might expect will be countered by the weight of all this stuff.... Anyway, I gave him a few instructions and away I went. When I came back a few hours later he commented "Boy was it nice to work with such good parts!" hehehe

My first impressions..... loud and faster

yup! This thing is loud. It's got a high pitch sound that might just make me go crazy. We'll see......

Faster? heck yea! There's a bit more torque down low but it's up passed 5k where this exhaust really pulls it's weight.

Now if I can only get passed the noise.....

Cool! I've got to figure out how to rig up the air-supply tube from the stock location (up by the pre-cat) to where the main cat is. BTW, I'm using the Bonez presilencer/high-flow catalyst "combo".

I get my car back this afternoon w. Racing Beat exhaust from header to tailpipe...

Like inittab I had the shop guy floored with amazement at the high quality of construction. This shop does everything from building drag racers (long skinny type, not street cars with fat rear tires) to restoring Volvo P1800s and they see a lot of aftermarket stuff. When I told him the goods cost $1,130 CDN (including shipping, taxes, tarrifs on imported auto parts, etc.) he was amazed all over again. Told me if I'd said over $2,000 he'd have believed it for stuff this well made.
