rats nest removed + rx7 woes

when i got back from ky i had my custom exhaust put on,
it consist of

rb header
rb presilencer
straight 2.25" pipe
stright through dtm muffler

it sounds really nice and doesnt barely backfire
but when it does its a pleasant little gulping sound and some nice 12" flames to go along with it.

when i was at jeremy's house my pipe above my rear axle was crushed in three spots.

and when the exhasut was done it wasnt too much better???

then i removed the rats nest and now it is really really hard to start but still idles just fine?

it now back fires even less with less flames as well

i just dont understand how these performance mods are hurting my engine ????

it seems like i have a ton more power above 3k

i mean jeremy said it shot up before but that was nothing

when im at 3k in the blink of an eye the needle is buried and screamin for a shift.

but low down it seems as though i lost torque and the shity start just bugs the hell out of me,

before i could tap my start button and it would fire up,

now i have to hold it in and let it crank for a while then turn it of and do it again with giving it tons of gas till it finally fires up.

then it smokes ou the gas and smells like **** for a minute and its fine.

and this is even right after i turn it off so its not a cold start issue.

im thinking one of my msd components bit the dust but the fact that it happened right after the rats nest removal is just to ironic.

sorry this post is so long i just hate it when people jump to insane conclusions like maybe its a bent rim ??????

The ball bearings in the muffler are shot.

Seriously,

Losing Backpressure through your exhaust could cause some of those symptoms. Don't know about the hard starting though...

yeah i was thinking something along the lines of backpressure for the lower torque loss,
but come on 2.25" is not that big.

not to mention its all restricted down to 2" at the rb presliencer anyway,

i just went 2.25" to try to keep 2" throughout the bends at the rear axle.

well i did the smart thing and installed a bosch platinum o2 sensor i the header before it was installed so all i have to do now is buy the gauge and install the weber and see whats going on.

im gonna adjust it for the most gas it will dump with the most air flow and try to keep a stoicheometric mixture

then i will see when im pumpin way more air/fuel through the exhaust if its because of backpressure.

You check your timing? It sounds like your having a hard time starting cause the spark isn't detonating the fuel, and you get the flames cause you got fuel burning in the pipes. Not that the flame thing isn't cool as hell, but you see what I'm getting at. Could be something in the rats nest, or the flux capacitor (J/K) Those are all guesses though. Hope you get it straigtened out

i live by the fluxcapacitor. how else could my 7 harness 1.21 jigawatts? when you removed the rat's nest, did you accidently pull one of the mysterious black boxes that aided in starting? maybe you killed vacuum to one of the carb's black boxes. back to mr hayne's manual again. i just modded my carb. used a bread tie and compressed a few coils so that i can reverse it. also found the choke problem. a tab that hit the gas was bent so it wouldn't make contact. a conspiracy i tell ya. still waiting for my tank. the bastards at ezparts.com are jackin me around.

superphly, i have been planning to make a fluxcapacitor mockup to go in my fd for over half a year now. unfortunately i still have no fd. but, its one of the best upgrades you can do, lol.

Yea, I was going to install it in my brand new 2003 Corvette Z06... I already have the flux capacitor (I got mine to run at 0.549382 jigawatts using that kit from K&N), now all I need is the car... I really wish that K&N Flux Cap. Kit came with the car... it would really help out... I hate Chevy dealerships....
