To rats nest or not?
To rats nest or not?
I'm in the process of rebuilding and assembling the engine in my 1985 RX-7. It's a stock rebuild (Atkins). I have also powder coated all the parts that go on the engine. This will not be a "hot-rod", but just a weekend driver.
Should I put the rat's nest on?
In the end I just want a good running car that gets decent gas mileage (as good as an RX-7 can get) and good performance.

Looks great.
The "nest" Would really hide alot of that pretty engine. But it would be kinda cool to have it on for originality sake. (if I found a totally original car with AC and rats nest in good shape I'd buy it in a heart beat)
It's your judgement call here. The nest won't hinder performance. But I'd probably leave it off If I'd spent time making my motor look that nice.

Damn that's purty......
The rats nest will hide part of the engine, and really doesn't affect the overall performance, as long as it has no leaks.
If you are removing the rest of the emmissions, might as well leave the nest off. If the rest of the emmission system is going back on, the nest is required to make it function properly.
That should be the determining factor.
