Rare Colors

just wondering what you guys out there think are fairly uncommon factory colors to find a 7 in. off the top of my head, i think that persimmon red, solar gold, maya gold, havanna brown, desert brown, and ocean blue are pretty uncommon. any others that you guys can think of that are pretty rare to see? any pics you'd like to post of a 7 with a rare color would be pretty cool!

When I first bought mine, I would see others the same color quite often. But now, I don't see it much...it's Sonic Bronze Metallic.

Here's a better shot of the Hawaiian Orchid color. The car is pretty beaten up after all these years.

Belongs to my SO. He's hoping to fix it up to its former glory some day soon.

I know there are quite a few blue colors that the 7 came in, I haven't seen many in (I think ) soft blue.

Also, does anyone know where I can get the bronze paint?

Ever get stuck on a color? Ever since I bought my SA back in '80 I have loved the color. When I got the second and third gen they got the same treatment. Trimmed with black and tinted windows makes them look much better. Unfortunatly, I sold the SA to a guy in Texas - I wish I had it back.

Hi mazdaverx713b -

I really don't know for a fact...I got the Y5 from a PM I received from 7aull several months ago...perhaps he can weigh in:

Rich:
sonic bronze = "Y5" according to my 79 Mazda Parts Book...
Stu Aull
80 "RH" (Sunrise Red) RX7

I've looked several times, and I can't find a code anywhere on my car.

64mgb, as for the paint code being on the 79's, i believe trochoid mentioned that it was on an underhood deacal. you may want to check there and post back

Rich,
Sharp looking car.
Similar to the 2nd RX-7 that I owned which was a 83 S model.

Misty Blue

I believe I read somewhere that this misty blue was only made 2 years. This is my '83 S, original paint.

Nope...I've looked several times, and there is no paint code in my car, not in an obvious place anyway.

Rich, my SAs the same color as yours. The code is Y5. The color code sticker for mine is located under the hood, near the lubrication specification sticker on the spark plug side of the car. Yours must have fallen off, as mine is pealing and I'm shocked its still there.

Renaissance Red. It was on the limited edition offered in '80, and as a regular color in '81 (not sure about other years). Mine doesn't look too much like it after all these years, but it was a nice color.

What's your build date? Mine was one of the first, built in 3/78. I've had it since new and know there are no stickers missing, so I suspect they started putting them on later.

My build date is 8/78 so it looks like this supports the idea of them putting the color code stickers on later.
