Ran a 15.05

Hey guys, I'm so proud of my baby. 15.05 at 91 MPH. 2.0 Hook time with a stock clutch and Nitto 555Rs. My mods include a 600cfm edelbrock on a racing beat mani. Racing beat header with no cat and a bypass pipe out the side after the road race collector. It's an 84 gslse with the original stock 6-port non-ported motor pushing 195000 miles. I also have MSD with direct fire on the leading plugs. It was also 90 degrees outside. Is this impressive, or normal. I have the timeslip to prove it!!!

It's runnin quite rich. Should I risk leaning it out with the mileage. Its a drag only car. I run in a bracket league. I only shift at 7500 rpm.

Lean it out a little and find out what happens. Not too much though. I bet you could get 14.8 out of it if you do that.

BTW, what was the car you were running against?

i pulled a faster 1/8th time on shitty tires and the stock carb with a 2.230 60ft (but it was an 1/8th track...so i have no idea what my car runs in the 1/4)

also my 1/8th trap speed was 72.33

That makes me sad. I only have exhaust and the emissions removed. I was hoping for 16s, but you with a carb and MSD and **** makes me think I'll barely get 17s.

Thats exactly what my car ran in the 1/8th so I would say good time. It all depends on weather and track. I have a 600cfm on an 86 6-port with all the same mods. I think it can definitley get faster, but takes some tuning and some guts.

Misthael, your car will run AT LEAST 16.5 in the quarter. A stock 7 is capable of more than you think. Most will run under 17 sec., unless its a very high mileage car with bad tuning.

Yapa, I think your car is capable of low 14's. I would be willing to bet that your carb is choking the engine at higher rpm's though. A mikuni with 40 MM barrels is probably barely enough for a streetport 13B. I would bet that if you upgraded to a weber 48 dcoe or similar Mikuni or Dellorto car you could get another 10 HP, mabey more.

RB suggests their modded 51 IDA Weber for a streeport 13B, so IMO a 40 PHH Mikuni is a little small.

That's a good trap speed - the true measure of how fast your car is.

13b 6 port. Not ported either.
Hate to say it, but we run on a .000 tree when we do test & tune, so .3 sucks *****. I'm usually in the .010- .080 range, which is eight hundredths off of perfect. My throttle cable was sticking that night, so I wasnt really paying attention to the RT. Thanks anyway

Someone told me if your elevation is higher your carb runs better on smaller jets. Is this true. I'm running #60 primaries on a RB Holley 600 w/13B streetported 4 port and a 90 rotating assy. Pulls real hard..

I dont think the timeslip is bad at all!Much better than when i did my test run..

I did a 17.4.It was @ 5700 feet above sea level,with the carb not tuned,and a bad fuel pump.

You time would be : 14.80 @ 97.4 If the run was at sea level

Congrats!
