Rally Preparring A First Gen

Ok, I KNOW Ive read about this and what not, but I could find anything I wanted by searching... So, on to the point.

I have an 85 GS that Ive tried to part out for God knows how long without much luck, and Ive decided that maybe I would buy a junk yard engine and throw in there so I can just take it out and "rally" it. Anyone have any ideas as to what I could/should do?

I plan on taking it on small-piece-gravel/dirt fire service roads in my area that run through the forrest. Theyre pretty tame roads (I would drive my Moms 02 Toyota Camry on them), so Im just gonna be "drifting", doughnuts, burnouts, etc. Basically all the things you wanna do on the roads but cant . My plan so far is to get it running, strip the interior, (leaving safety devices like seats and seatbelts ), reduce weight as needed/desired, add frontal lights, etc. Im pretty much just gonna beat on this car, but I was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to what I could do to "beef up" the suspension a little more for free or very cheap. Maybe just get a little more ground clearance? Also, I was thinking of replacing all glass with plexi or something, anyone know how or where to get this or do this? Im also thinking of getting some used steel stock and making my own roll cage, just for safety . So, just maybe throw out ideas as to what I could do?

Fabricate some sort of blocks for your front and rear springs so that it will make it higher and stiffer.

Put spring rubbers in the springs to stiffen it up ala NASCAR. Other than that you'll have to buy suspension pieces, which could get expensive fairly quickly. The stock suspension isn't bad for tooling around on dirt/gravel. The car thats now becoming my racecar did pretty well on an old cow pasture where the car was being stored. Not the optimum setup, but opposed to spending money on it it handles pretty well.

Unless you're going to competatively race it with an organization, i.e. SCCA, don't bother with lexan or plexi windows. Just an expense you don't realy need if you're just going to joyride on gravel roads, etc.

RX-7's are fun "beater" cars, although it is a shame to use them for that

Yeah, I know its a shame, but I have 3 working ones, including one -SE. And in a way, Im saving the car. Otherwise, it would just sit and rust and be parted out here and there, whereas now its going to good use, and back to what it was originally meant to do, bring joy to the driver .

What do you mean rubbers in the springs? I dont know about that... Also, where should the blocks go that Adrenalife mentioned? That was my first thought, but I wasnt sure as to where to put them... Any ideas? The lexan windows were an idea because where I go is in the forrest, with branches and what not commonly jutting out to break windows, and with my friends in their pickups throwing rocks from under their tires all over, I just dont really want glas shattering all over me...
