Alarm Recomendations for an FB

I was just wondering what recomendations people have regarding alarms for an FB.

I want to add keyless and hatch release as well.

The local High end AV shop recomended an Alpine SEC-150R system.

Does any one know about there?

I have a kill switch, I had an alarm at one time but it broke and I now garage the car and only drive it to work. If I do get an alarm I would get a avital alarm, only because I have had it on my Protege 5 for about two years with no problems. I would also get the keyless entry on the driverside only to save money unless the rex is your only car.

Alarms are absolutely worthless, IMO.

The best defense against robbery is a secret kill switch, or just drive a POS beater

i've got a python 460hp with 2 actuators and the hatch release. its a 3 channel alarm that you can add windows up and down to as well. i have the module, just haven't installed it yet. button 1 arm(lock doors and roll up windows)/ disarm(unlock) button two hold for 3 secs and it releases the hatch. buttons 1 and 2 together the windows crack three inches if you continue holding for 3 more, it rolls down completely.

the alpine sec150r is a cool piece that has the same features as the python but also has a dual stage radar (proximity) sensor so if the top is out and someone reaches in, the alarm will sound.

You can go safely with anything from any major alarm manufacter. Alarms do work - if installed properly. It really comes down to how good your installer is. I have been installing high-end alarms since the late 80's and have never had a car stolen after I installed an alarm on it. It is simply a deterent.

Personally, I have an older Alpine 8081 on my GSL-SE.

my car was broken into last night... at work (Best Buy).

******* butchered the passenger side door lock, opened the door, broke the stereo surround, took the Blaupunkt Headunit, grabbed the Infinity Kappa 6x9s from the back, and tried to take the amp (2 of 4 bolts were out) but they didnt.

i'm getting an alarm (thank god for best buy employee discount).

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but first, thanks to Pratch for sending me to kickyride. I asked them for specific directions on installing door locks and hatch/fuel door pops. Mike (kickyride) actually took the time to hand-label the wiring diagrams with the color wires that are in my particular car! Unbelievable service that you rarely see anymore.

Mike is great over at Kickyride.

And the top-of-the-line Alppine's are too damn expensive. Mine used to retail for $700 (half the cost of my FB), and the expansion module was another $200. I didn't pay retail (or ever wholesale) for it though.

Thanks for the info guys. I an gona take your advice and have the alarm and keyless installed on both doors because I have pasengers form time to time.

Ya this one has a kill switch built in if there is any tampering with hood or the ignition lock cyilendr. And the dual zone proxcimity sensors are nice too.

Thanks again guys
