Radiator Options for 79 Rx7

The current stock radiator is leaking, maybe could be repaired, but it's already had a couple of cores removed. The drain doesn't work because of that.

I know of the cc701 that Champion used to sell, but it seems like they've changed the recipe and now there's no fitting for the coolant level sensor, plus the heater hose outlet is on the wrong side. Running a longer heater hose would be easy enough. I'm sure I can find someone with a TIG welder to add a bung to the top.

Does anyone have this new version and can confirm if it still fits? It looks like they angled the mounting brackets to kick the bottom of the radiator towards the front of the car. Does this interfere with the AC condenser?

Oh... I didn't realize everyone else was making the older, Champion-style radiators. Thanks!

Should I look at replacing the 16-pound radiator cap that came with the new aluminum radiator?

Probably going to either way.

The factory system is designed for a 0.9 bar cap (13 psi) and I'd rather not put more stress on my coolant seals and hoses with a higher pressure cap if it's really not necessary.

The only radiator caps I can find that fit these new radiators are part numbers RW0021-2 and RW0021-3. One with a pressure relief lever and one without.

The dimensions of the caps are almost identical to the factory cap except the filler neck is deeper on the aluminum radiator, thus requiring a longer cap.

Never mind, the filler neck is the same height on both rads, the height difference in the caps is probably for different pressures. Ah, well.
