Well, It has come time to say goodbye to my first RX-7, the 1985 GSL. It was quite hard to make the decision to tear it down, but judging by the amount of underbody rust to fix, it just wasnt logical to get it back on the road after the accident.

I have great memories of not only falling in love with these awesome little cars, but also the learning experience that came with it. From the time I blew the engine, and had to drop a replacement in all by myself to the times where I was so frustrated with it that I just wanted to give up over stupid little things, to the point where I finally rebuilt basically everything. I never gave up and I couldnt be happier (even though the ol GSL is gone) with everything Ive gotten out of them. This was the first car that ever really captured me, and changed how I think of transportation.
Anyways, since the accident Ive moved on to greener pastures ( the GSL-SE!!!) but the GSL will be remembered. Just had to say goodbye haha.

A few days ago this was sitting in my back yard:

But now.....this is the sad sight of whats left...ready to be picked up for the metalyard.

It was a great car that wont be forgotten. Thanks to everyone who helped make it what it was...
Hopefully its off cruisin in rotary heaven !!!

I am in the process of selling my first FB, and someone told me today they would buy it off me and put a V8 in it. I nearly killed them... I told them they could offer me the full 2,100 dollars I paid for it originally, even though it doesn't have an engine in it and I wouldn't accept so long as I knew they would drop a v8 in it.

Its going to be one of the saddest days ever when it leaves my possession. I'm sorry you lost yours. Its good that we both have another one, but there is nothing like the first one. That first taste of addiction. That first feeling of lust for it.

Holy crap, thats exactly how my 79 looks at the moment(mine's a lil' rustier), im gonna try to salvage it by removing the whole floor & firewall forward and use it as a shell for a tube chassis

It really isnt that bad, but when I took it in to autopac about the collision they made sure to get a bunch of pictures of the underside of the vehicle as well. The only damage in the accident was to the rear bumper and taillight area, but since they took such extensive pictures, to get it back on the road it would not only need a safety, but a frame integrity test which it definately wouldnt pass until the whole underside was solid and fixed, as well as the rear.

Believe me I wanted to keep it but with the cost of repair I decided to just find a pull all the parts and look for a new shell for all the 12A stuff. ]

In looking, I found the latest member to the family: the GSL-SE.
Even after buying the -SE, my plan hasnt changed... There will most certainly be another 12A car! Just need to find the right one...If a silver GSL pops up I definately plan to ****** it up, and finish the build I had planned for the GSL!
With the new plans for the -SE as well, it looks like im in deep! haha

They are 4X110, I bought them from Tirerack.com last year, but I think I got the last set, they were on closeout and disappeared from the website soon after I bought them.
Too bad they are no longer available, I think they look sweet on a silver car.... On second thought, its not soo bad, mine will just get rarer!

I thought the VIN was a nice touch too! haha

I already miss it. I paid $600 canadian for it when I got it, and it was in mighty rough shape till I worked some of my magic on it. Its hard to let go of the result of so much hard work! I just wish sometimes that it didnt have to leave me this way....

Its ok though, just gotta think of the future!!!!! You guys know Ill be back with something bigger and badder!!!
