Here's a picture of an exhaust system similar in setup used by familiar racecar teams such as Mariah Frog and Mazdatrix on their EP cars which are streetported and put down 200+ to the wheels.

They race on tracks that have decibel limits, such as Laguna Seca now has it at 92db.

This picture of an ARGO chassis JM-19 P-ported 13B shows you the mufflers necessary to try to keep noise down to meet IMSA's rules and still make power.

How about Jim Downing's Camel Lights car.... can you say MUFFLER!!!

These teams have spent many hours and dollars to develop a system to take home the trophy. While these are racecars (loud ones) and not streetcars, it should give you a clue as to what it takes to quiet down a rotary while still making power.

Exactly why I bought my "big black muff" Rotaflo....nice idle sound and quiet for a ported rotary.

Has anybody who has responded on this thread own a street ported turbo II?

I am currently running a 3" straight back to a seabring muffler. It is too loud, and am planning on making it quieter.

Here is what I have planned, please comment if you guys like.

1) Weld a 3" Borla XR-1 in as a presilencer
2) Use either an XR-1 or a Turbo XS as the actual muffler

Do you think this would quiet down the tone significantly?

Use a Turbo XS or a Pro XS for the actual muffler. Quieter. ProXS is cheaper but same product if you can find it.

Peejay is actually planning something like that , I think. A really huge muffler alongside the back bumper, on the outside. I forget, we were talking about something like that once.
