I wonder if a pair of these and a nice rear end muffler would be quiet.. found this on ebay going for 2.99 + 21.99 for shipping. Place them end to end and weld them. without the iners though.

do we have to make another thread.. "quiet, CHEAP, straight through..."

I don't even think I'd put that on my Civic. It looks kinda like the stuff from the Rice Asile at Wal*Mart.

100% stainless steel packed. Trust me, I haven't gotten laid in close to a year, so when I do my research its ***** to the wall. That and I've looked in several myself.

Borla Pro-XS is the best value period

$80, and you're set, any size.

So my question is: which Borla model should I use on the 85SE? The 85GSL?

I have a monza muffler laying around but I think I'll put that on the REPU.

Well gosh, would it hurt for you to get on their website and look? grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr I have to pee.

Depending on what size pipes you're running, go with the Pro-XS muffler that'll mate up to them.

Pele owns a civic.. shoot'em

Tranquil.. a year wow! want me to send you a "prepaid friend" lol

I was going to use the borla for the rear and 2 of those cheap steel mufflers as "pre-silancers" That way I will only pay about 80 for the borla some custom work at the shop down the street can mate everything up for me if I bring them what I have for 50 buks.

end result would be from the engine/.. RB road race header mate to Y collector mate to 2 cheap *** pre-silancers, then the over the axle pipe, then the borla out the back.

Use the Borla as the pre-silencer, it will do a better job than trying to add 2 pos steel ones that will rust out and probably aren't packed with steel wool. The best ones have stainless steel wool packing, they will not rust out and take more heat to burn out.

I wouldn't do that if I were you. Mufflers THAT cheap can't possibly last long, if at all. Additionally you don't know what they're packed with or what the cores look like. For all you know, they could be louvered, which flows nearly as badly as reverse flow or chambered mufflers. Your best bet is to run a round bodied stainless muffler like a Magnaflow or Borla as a presilencer and then a full sized oval muffler after the axle. Cheaping out will end up costing you more in the end.

fine.. then. i'll try and stop looking for cheap solution to a loud problem. but for the sake of wanting to know more...

If there houseing is stainless and the silencer is removable.. they should last you a while.. and at 25.00 buks.. thats almost an yearly maintance issue. But thing I really want to know is.. lets say you got your bp 13bor 12a and headers down to a Y then into a large chamber followed by a 2.5 inch connector to another big chamber. then out to a factory exhaust. Wouldn;t the larger chambers cause the whines of the engine to smooth out?

why would it be better to run the smaller one as a pre, why not use the full size oval as the pre??

I looked at the website and they don't have anything specific for FBs. As you would know if YOU had looked.

Hey, just poped into this thread...

I put a Borla XR-1 on my full bridge NA FC... and it is about half as loud as it was with the RB Presilencer in its place... and it sounds so much better now, especially at idle.

So all in all... I HIGHLY reccomend an XR-1 in place of a presilencer/main cat.

I wasn't aware this forum's purpose was to spoon feed information to people too ******* lazy to do their own research.

Take a guess as to why they have a removable silencer. Times up. Because they are too loud for street use without it, on a piston engine no less. Replace them annually, lol, by the second year, you've paid for the Borla, and not enjoyed the exhaust note the entire time.

You do not want to increase, then decrease pipe size, throws the flow dynamics off.

Ovals are a bit tight to fit. If they did, RB would sell one.

Funny, Magnaflow doesn't have them listed as rotary specific either, but then we are building custom exhausts and choose size, length and diameter on an as needed basis.

I'm gonna try it out for my turbo fb. I've already bought a RB presilenser (the one for the turbo second gen system) so I'll use that for the presilenser with the borla out back

Here's the link for the borla pro xs. Looks good! Mount it on it's side and your good to go. Now should I get the centered/centered, offset/offset or offset/centered

There is no such thing as a "car specific muffler" A muffler muffles the sound of the exhaust, that's it.

They are all UNIVERSAL MUFFLERS. And yes, I have the page in my bookmarks, I have looked before.

Next time I have to pee, cup your hands.

Rene (61620b) owns a muffler shop. IIRC, he said those borla presilencers wont last either.

My XR-1 seems to be holding up quite well. I have one on the corsica, on the GXL I had and its still running around with the same setup, and I wil run the same setup on my new vert. I am trying to find the links to dDubs car. He had a strait pipe into N1 knock offs. It was loud and annoying. He put an XR-1 on there, and it sounded sweet. And it convinced me to get this setup in the first place.

Edit found the vids.
