Quick tip for everyone

As I look around the forum I see a ton of new names.

It seems like the only names that are the same are mine mikes, and mantis

anway heres the tip

It's winter again and every winter i read the same post, over and over,
"Help my car wont start"

Even a 1st gen guru like myself has this same problem every year, and every year its the same thing.
Car comes damn close but just wont fire,
I know what it is but I dotn want to admit it, I just changed that damn thing, how can it be?
Even I will try everything in the FREE book just to get that damn engine to fire up for its last run. Even though I know the problem but just dont want to spend the cash on the parts.
So what is it?

the damn dizzy cap and rotor thats what,
"but im getting good spark" you say, well no, your not,
in the winter the rex wants a lot hotter spark to turn it over and fire it up.

I would suggest every time winter aproaches to go out and get
1: new distributor cap and rotor
2: new wires and plugs
3: an oil change and filter

these things should stop the problem before it starts,
but if your tapped for cash cause tis the season to be poor, then just the dizzy cap and rotor will work enough to get you through the winter.

Theres just a quick tip for all the newbies i see running around here.

Every cold michigan winter i go through this, not wanting to dish out the extra cash for parts, and I think to myself while cranking the car over "theres no way in hell a dis cap and rotor will fix this"
The problem always seems so much worse then it actually is.
but everytime I change the items it fires right up, just the way I last remembered on a 75 degree day

just for those of you who dont know,
no i do not neglect my car and fail to perfrom proper maintanance,
3,000 miles is a joke on this car, I recomend a tune up every 1,500
most if not all here on the board with extensive 1st gen experience will agree

good luck on the winter,
as for me, my baby will be packed up and cozy in the garage, cause I have also learned over time,
RX7's HATE COLD WEATHER
but b2000's and ford ranger's love it

stickers... each one adds about ten horse power. and if you actually have that product installed in your car, then it takes one tenth of a seconds off of your shift time as well

no sir,
and im the direct fire guru around here so I know,

https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...5&pagenumber=1

mainly because the spark is so damn hot that now your just wearing out your plugs faster, so now you have to replace the plugs twice as often instead of the diz cap and rotor.

not to mention that like I said before the rex loves a hot spark in the winter, one thing that helps this is a nice fully charged battery, but the msd box and extra equip is just sucking your extra juice.
kinda counter productive

My OEM rotor and cap are going on 2 years now and they're still fine.

They last so much longer than the shitty aftermarket ones with the aluminium contacts.

You'll have to forgive him, he can't help it. It's because he's from Eastpointe I've lived on both sides of Michigan and in the UP. One thing that helps in extreme cold, lighter oil. That 20w50 is super thick in the negatives.

you see i'm working on 2,000 and rarely ever post

I try to answer q's and post usefull information, but I ducked out for awhile cuz i got tired of answering the same three q's over and over, even after extensive write-ups on the subjects.

but ducking out only made it worse, now were plagued by newbies j/k lol

Theres just a quick tip for all the newbies i see running around here.
I've owned an RX-7 since you were shittin' in your pants and drooling down your shirt (bought my first one in 1981, bought my second in 1984 and I'm still driving it). Being new on the forum doesn't mean "newbie", my young friend.

Yes, new people on the board tend to ask questions that have been answered before. That is normal behavior on any forum in the world. I, too, (as new as I am) tend to grow tired of it - but I understand it. And, I certainly don't get my panties all tired in a knot over it!

Despite your condescending attitude and false feelings of superiority because you've "been on the forum" since '01, the information you gave was good. But Manntis and Mike don't need that info. So if it weren't for "newbies", who the hell would you have to share your knowlege with?
