damn i guess i am a newbie ohh well. This winter i went out and started all 3 rexes. my street port fires right up with no problems wait that could be cause it is in the 60 degree shop. The other two required a quick shot of nos j/k. But i have never really had to much of a problem starting any of the rotories i own in the winter. But a real good deep cycle battery can also help.

[QUOTE]no sir,
and im the direct fire guru around here so I know,

https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...25&pagenumber=1

mainly because the spark is so damn hot that now your just wearing out your plugs faster, so now you have to replace the plugs twice as often instead of the diz cap and rotor.

not to mention that like I said before the rex loves a hot spark in the winter, one thing that helps this is a nice fully charged battery, but the msd box and extra equip is just sucking your extra juice.
kinda counter productive

I don't agree - the MSD set up improved my cold start up 100%. IMO, I'd rather chew up plugs than replace "rotor, plugs, wires and cap every fall????" - not that I'm hard on plugs - use 3rd gen platinum plugs and they'll last twice as long as the stock plugs

Since you say 7s like a hotter spark in the cold weather, would using a plug one range hotter help this time of year?

What does your 1500 mile tune up consist of? I'll go search for it now...

I've searched and can't find it. Has this been discussed before?

Yes, new people on the board tend to ask questions that have been answered before. That is normal behavior on any forum in the world. I, too, (as new as I am) tend to grow tired of it - but I understand it. And, I certainly don't get my panties all tired in a knot over it!

Despite your condescending attitude and false feelings of superiority because you've "been on the forum" since '01, the information you gave was good. But Manntis and Mike don't need that info. So if it weren't for "newbies", who the hell would you have to share your knowlege with?

Look son just cause your older doesnt mean your wiser.
most of what I typed was a joke "hence smiley faces a j/k"

dont come in my threads flaming, it will get you nowhere but booted from the forum.

please go here if you wish to spread your hatred toward rx7 owners

@ 1500 miles the diz cap, rotor, spark plugs, and oil should all be changed

If your poor you can get away with a diz cap, rotor, and just top the oil off

sorry, Ok im the direct fire guru next to inittab,
but only cause he has three msd 6al 's, with six blaster ss coils, dual distributors, oh wait a mintue

isnt that what you have, had, plan to have ?

not trying to flame but wont call myself a direct fire guru when someone on the forum has a more complete direct fire system on a daily driver.

if sterling wanted to call himself a carb guru I would agree.
who has done what he has done on the forum?
before he did it?

Well my original plan was to throw out some quick winter starting tips for the surprising number of people who dont know how fast an rx7 eats ignition equipment.

but doesnt seem like this is any longer posible since people cant loosen up and have a since of humor,
didnt know we all drove such serious cars.
maybe the hatred spawns from the fact that there are people out there who are more knowledgable about their cars than they are?

either way sharing information is sharing information,
do a search on just the threads i have posted and you will see 9 out of 10 are help threads.
If someone wants to come on here and help people and call themselves the ******* god of the leopards then who am I to say its wrong?
have I ever been a good of leopards?
people helping people are just that.
even if they want to dress up in a big red suite with a bunch of reindeer. there still helping people

hope soem people can grasp this concept since its not very complex

thanks and have a happy holiday

Well, I for one, have to apologize. I was gonna PM you, but since my earlier reply was public, so shall my apology be public. My earlier thread was considerably stronger than I really intended. Sorry.

The knowlege you have is, without a doubt, extensive and valuable. I was just pointing out that without new people on the forum, you'd have no one to share that knowledge with.

BTW - I went to high school in your area. Anchor Bay in New Baltimore - too many moons ago.

Edit: Oh yeah, and I don't hate RX-7 owners. Why,, I go out of my way not to run over the slower ones! Some of my best friends are RX-7 owners. Hell, I AM AN RX-7 OWNER! And have been for 21 years.

V8Killer- I pride myself in my knowledge of the Nikki carburetor.
I feel like I can confidently say I know the Nikki carb like the back of my hand.
But that's only cause I took the damn things apart and messed around with things. I did what made sense, and learned as I went along. I read some books. I did some searches (...Good Lord- What's that?!).
I know alot about the Nikki carb, and how to make it better. But there is not a DAMN THING I know that anyone here could'nt learn just as easily.
I would be so friggin embarrassed to call myself a "guru".
There's so many people here that blow me away with their knowledge.
Ehh...Ya know what? - It's the ones that don't brag that know the most.

I only ever tell people what has worked for me, and when I speculate on what should work I always make it perfectly clear that I'm giving an opinion. In those situations I encourage the person to seek other opinions as well.

But this is the third time I've read a thread where you have been called a "guru".
The thing is, all three times?...It was you that called you that.

I chat with some very much more experienced rotorites than you- many right here on this very board, and none - NONE! - of them seriously call themselves "gurus".

I'm surprised you did'nt pull a "Freudian slip" and call the 'newbies' your groupies.

You're a valuable book of knowledge and an asset to this site, but you condescend everyone else. And I don't think you mean it. Some take it because they look up to you for your knowledge. Others are simply not bothered by it.

...Then there's always that one ******* who is bothered by it.
Well, Here I Am.

sterling,

you have me all wrong, i thought you guys would knwo me better then that by now,

when i say im a guru im just joking around,

not to say i wasnt slightly bragging about my msd setup,
but i wasnt bragging in the sense that i igured out how to do it, It was more that i actually did it out of all the people that talk about doing it.

see what im saying?

I can see by soem of the replies i got here that many of you wont take lightly when i throw that single fogger wet shot on my nearly 100% stock rex.

but hey look at all the people that talk about doing a nice nitrious setup on a carbed 1st gen and then the people that have done it.

but of course i will also provide a complete walk through and pricelist as before.

i really dont want to talk much about the nitrious kit yet though,
but i will say its gonna be a big time sleeper setup,

single fogger mounted in stock air box, bottle hidden, etc....

just a little something extra for those of you, like myself who want a nice stock looking rx7 that can still put on a nice show if needed.

I wanna be a Guru. Is that a self proclaimed thing or do I have to take a few classes. I know a lot about fan belts - can I be the fan belt guru? I've bought dozens, I've put them on, taken them off, and even broke a few - I know as much about fan belts as Good Year - maybe more!

Please direct any fan belt questions my way - PM if you don't want to embarass yourself with a fan belt thread.

no harm done, i have been flamed quite a few times and it always ends with freindship on this forum, so im not thrown by it anymore.

me and 8?transam "cant never remember the damn year" started out with flamers, "well he flamed me a couple times" and turned out to be friends who talked on the imer quite a few times.

well, see, dave is from michigan and has a slight case of ld. he also can't use jackstands very well and dropped a 7 on himself, thus becoming a guru of the bottom of the car. and if he ever gets his trends set, we'll all be using milk crates instead of racing seats. i think i summed it all up. anything to add dave? by the way you ever get the house you were talking about a while back?
