Quick Rear Axle Replacement Question

Just A quick question.

I am replacing my rear axle with a moser axle from re-speed. I am also replacing the wheel bearings and oil seals.

On the old axle there was in this order:

dust shield--a removable collar--bearing--bearing retainer.

If the removable spacer like collar necessary on the replacements as i do not even see that listed in the FSM, or was it at one point part of the bearing? I originally thought it was part of the bearing until they came off seperately once i had cut the retainer off.

Thanks guys.
