Quick PST bushing and idler arm question
Im about to order a polygraphite bushing kit from PST and i just need to know if the bushing with there kit will fit the RacingBeat swaybar? I read somewhere on here that the bar takes a special size. In addition, i need to replace my idler arm(s), Do i want poly's for that too or should i just get the regular rubber ones?
Thanks!
Thanks!

The RacingBeat swaybar is larger AFAIK. The PST bushings supplied will probably not fit the bar. Ask RacingBeat for those particular bushings instead. There is one idler arm and other than the grease boot there is no rubber in the assembly. You have two choices when it comes to the idler arm, you can replace it (it's cheap enough) or just replace the bushing inside (even cheaper).
Hmmm....... are you maybe talking about the tension rods? If so, yes, get the poly bushings for those.

Usually its the hard plastic bushing that wears. Plastic =soft, steel= hard. Unless yours got bent somehow, just buy new plastic ones. I got the VB ones. They were beck arnely IIRC. work fine, last long time.

thanks, i see that now. Funny how a VB catalog can be more correct than the factory service manual.
Carl which parts were you talking about here? Alot of stuff got bent when i had my accident. So it is possible that it bent something in the steering as well. Its sloppier than it was before and sometime the wheels will pull, but the steering wheel doesnt turn... So im pretty sure i need the idler arm.

idler arm is solid technically, but still has 2 bushings. The PST front sway bar fits, AND you get a deal when you buy a front end kit and the sway bar (what i plan on doing very soon)

I just did the PST kit with RB bar. PST bushings do not fit the 1-1/8" bar. The kit came instead with the bushing for the stock-sized bar. They offered to give me a generic 1-1/8" replacement bushing, but couldn't guarantee it would fit my car's brackets ('84). End bushings work fine; it's the "D" bushing that's the problem.
I ended up using the polyurethane (not polygraphite) bushing that came with the RB bar. Car's not on the road yet, so I can't comment on squeaking, which is why I went with polygraphite to begin with.

Thank you, that was exactly the anwser i was looking for. I ordered my Graphite bushings from pst this morning. I kinda figured that was what i would have to do. So im just going to hold off on the sway bar right now, until i get springs and illuminas. The only thing i dont get is if they are both 1-1/8" bars. why doesnt it fit?
If you bar does squeak, may i recommend wraping that section of the bar in teflon plumbers tape? I heard that works better than any lube, and it doesnt wear off.

Thanks for the teflon tape idea.
