Quick help needed, installing E. Fan

I cant get my E. Fan off of a 92 Taurus to fit in. I took off most of the stock fan equipt. All that is left is the black pulleys and the shaft that it bolts onto. Does all of that come off because my fan isnt fitting.

you might try a search, i did earlier today because i was wondering this same thing, there is a thread starting out with basicly the same question and ends up as what (in my opinion) should be in a FAQ. Very informative read. Hope this helps, not trying to be a "do a search!" ***.

Look in the FAQ thread at the top of the 1st gen forum, I believe Bob listed threads on this there.

Just get a Feiro fan, it only took me an hour or so to do a complete install including fabrication.

if you have 3.0 liter tauras fan you might find that the depthof the moter assy for fan will cause it to hit waterpump pulley, you need a taurus fan from a 3.8 liter equipped taurus or sable , the added with from the bigger moter caused them to use a fan moter that was skinier to clear, the fan assy i used is from supercoupe ford which uses same two speed fan moter so no clearance problem, by the way i have a schematic that allows you to turn lo on at 160 degrees via the factory choke switch in thermostat housing, high comes on at 220 or any time ac is on, using three bosch relays . its kick aass i think!

not for water output i checked it with thermocoupler and with stock fan clean rad and new thermostat and the water temp exiting the thermostat was approx 220 degrees going to the radiater btw the rad output temp at lower hose avg 150 degress temp gauge reads lower than oe fan with my set up. i used my multimeter thermocoupler attachment good tool.

Yea im going to get a 3.8 Liter one soon, as for switches, im gonna have it always run at a mediocre speed thatl keep it cool under normal driving, then i want to add in a dimmer switch so i can adjust how fast its going to my liking, no need having it spin all out when im not getn on it all that hard is my opinion

rheostating these fan moters is impossible to my knowledge due tue the initial amps surge and the constant varying load due to speed of travel outside wind speed etc , most dash lites are fused 5 amp so the dimmer would never hold the 29 amp surge and the 17 amp draw of low, not to mention the 45 surge and 33 amp load on high , toast that thing in a heart beat, the main reason i start the low fan with the choke temp switch is caouse it takes it too long to warm up with fan running, it like triples the high idle release time,

I didn't realise that the Tauruses used two different fans. My e-fan barely clears by 12A's pulley and I'm swapping in a 13B in about 3 weeks. I'll have to go looking for the slimmer fan, methinks.

Fiero fans are awesome. This sounds dumb, but if your not too dumb of a driver just hook up the fan to a button/switch inside the cabin of your car. This way YOU have complete control of your fan. I have a fiero fan hooked up on high, with a on/off switch going under the dash. When my Temp is getting anywhere higher than usual, i turn it on. Its that simple.

the 3,8 fan just barely clears the pulleys the 3.0 interfears, i switched my fan on and off with lead to ac comp clutch, worked great till i got side tracked by customer and she got hot , i feel much better about having temp swicth , also the way the curciuts set up if the switch or relay fails the fan runs automaticly full time, its almost foolproofthe fiero fan is also a very worthy candidate , just maybe a littlr less plentiful is all,

This is what I use... And it works GREAT, even with a Turbo.

Part# 31165-VSC
Attaches to or near the electric engine-cooling fan. Senses coolant temp. via the radiator core and sets fan speed from 60% to 100%, depending on built-in fan thermostat setting. Thermostat range: 155 - 220 degrees Fahrenheit. Allows greater control over engine temp: reduces charging spikes and current load on charging system. 25 amp max. load. Directs fan to run for 30 seconds after vehicle is turned off.

Instructions

Keeps Fan off for 5 Seconds when starting the car
Keeps Fan on for 30 seconds after the car is shut off
Turns Fan On to 60% Speed at any temperture I set
Turns Fan On to 100% speed 10 degrees higher than I set.
Has A/C switch to turn on fans to 60% when A/C is on.
Has Built in Switch Overide to turn Fans on at 100%
Has Built in Switch Overide to turns Fans off completely.

I set mine to turn on (60% speed) at 160 degrees
They go to 100% speed when I hit 170 degrees
They shut off at 159 degrees.

If they are on, when I shut the car down, they remain on at 60% power for 30 seconds to really help cooling down.

When the car is warm, and I start the car, they won't turn on for at least 5 seconds to not cause any drain while starting the car.

I freaking love it!!
