questions about buying a 85

ok the body is in rly good condition. Only problem is when he put a Racing Beat modified Holley Carburetor, Racing Beat Intake. Racing Beat Exhaust, Mallory 4070M Fuel Pump on the car wouldnt run. He said before the parts went on it ran. I pulled the dip stick and smelled it. It smelt like it was a lot of gas and oil. Question is are those carbs know for flooding really bad or is it just there wiring?

Is he running a regulator? Sounds like he's got too much fuel pressure and it's just flooding. Disconnect power to the pump and crank it until the bowls empty to a sane level and maybe it will fire up. In any case, never buy a car that doesn't run for the price of a running car based on a previous owner saying "it used to run great until..." A non-running car is a non-running car.
