Question to the turbo guys
Question to the turbo guys
What kind of radiators are you guys using? I checked my stock one, and it was leaking like crazy, so now i need to buy a new one, and was wondering what others have used and have had (or not had) success with. While im on the topic, will FC radiators work? I was hoping to get one i can mount an oil cooler underneath, but if i need to put the oil cooler somewhere else, o well. Any help will be appreciated!

S5/S4 and S3 radiators are all IDENTICAL, in stock form. They all have the same surface area, they all are 2 row brass. The only differance is that the 2nd gens have an inlet and outlet that are intended for use in a "tilt-forward" mounting.
I am running a GSL-SE radiator in my turbo car, and on the way to SS6 in 105deg heat at 80-85 mph the temp NEVER went over 180deg.

I wanted to get a upgraded FC radiator, but price was prohibitive.
The chevy one was only $175 but I have to have a fitting added and the bottom inlets angle needs to be modified.

I believe a stock 79-82 Radiator is a three row (shorty & Fat style, as the oil cooler is mounted directly underneath)
Or it may just be that it is "thick enough" to squeeze a 3 row core into it's frame.
The 84+ FB radiators are all taller and thinner, because of the Bee-hive oil cooler, and SE cars just mount the front mount oil cooler in front of the radiator (which is definately 2 row).
A New stock radiator works fine with high output turbo rotaries.
If you really want more,
go with a Griffin Aluminum Radiator or a custom mounted V8 one.

79-82 is a 2 core, but you can get a 3 core from mazdatrix, they are very nice. I would have kept mine but I could not get the intercooler to fit very well with the stock radiator supports.
Plus I have the bling bling factor of a alluminum radiator
