Question about starter wire...
Hey guys/gals ...
I have this silly problem with the little wire on top of the starter, this being the only one that doesn't bolt onto it. Every since I've replaced my starter, the damn thing keeps falling out sometimes ... So I'll get up one morning, go to school, then I look like an idiot in the school's parking lot unplugging the battery, trying to get my arm under the car at the right place to then try to find where the damn clip is to hook the wire onto is :P Thgis isn't a major problem but .. what would you guys use to kinda have it stay there.
It's really a stupid problem .. I can go in the biggest water puddles, etc etc , ecerything's fine .. just driving normally to school, and bang it's out of place ! lol
Thanks alot !
Eric.

Hey Eric!
It's about damn time you got a custom avatar of your car up!
Try it with the vice grips, then we'll go and get you a connector that will work for ya. You'd be amazed what you can find at scrapyards for free. I needed a 3-prong connector for my fuel-level-sender on my '84, and as it turns out I found one that looked *identical* and fits perfectly in the engine bay of a '94 Mazda 323! Those mazda penny-pinchers re-use connectors (and why not? Why reinvent the wheel) so they're easy to find.
We can wire you up something good, no prob. The way I figure it though, where the plastic outer cover of the connector touches the metal casing of the starter solonoid, we could goop it up with some silicon or something. Since it's around the outside of the connector it won't stop the connection from being made, but it sure as hell will keep that damn little wire from coming loose!
BTW: I start my co-op job tomorrow morning I'll be phoning the insurance co. this week and making my first payment on that on Thursday... The day is coming soon, I can feel it. I just need one paycheck from this co-op and the arrival of the carb and I'm set We should meet when the carb gets here, I want to make sure my rat's nest is connected properly again. THIS time it's all done with zipties and clamps. there will be no leaks in my car!

?
You don't need to hunt for this connector. It's just a regular old female quick disconnect. Get a plastic insulated one that matches the gauge (14-16?) from any hardware store.

If you don't want to replace it, use some liquid electrical tape to hold it on.
