oh alright. then i doubt its been removed its probably just broken or whatever but i know nothing happens at redline cuz ive (accidentally) had my car at 8200 rpm (oak tree turn, VIR) and nothing came on. if it did i might have remembered to shift! lol

I absolutely had to disconnect mine when I starting driving the bridgeport. After a break-in period finshed, and drove it like it was meant, it was clear that it was annoying and stupid to have. Even a little annoying with a mildport. Bridgeports have ~1500-2000rpm to go after 7000rpm! THats a lot of buzzer time since a shift at 8500rpm will only drop to about ~6900rpm into 2nd gear.

WTF you need to be reminded that your in the red zone?hahah
Maybe a 7 is not your car..Stick with a Honda they have rev limiters..
Only time I worry about the shift noise is at the track,Then my shift light kicks in at 8 k..

I accidently pegged my tach the othger day and never got a buzz out of it. I was turning left onto another road from a 4 way stop and I hit some black ice and it kicked my back end out from under me and the tach just sky rocketed. I was using the throttle to control the slide (haha, practice in the rain everyone ), shifted to 2nd and went down the road sideways for a while, then straightend it out and drove normal. Scary, but fun because I have practiced it so much with the old 85 GSL with bald tires . Anyway, no buzzer .

Clutch can come apart at or near 10,500rpms If you rev that high on a regular basis, may want to invest in a scatter shield
Ofcourse the type of failure your refering to is when the flywheel/and clutch break apart together catiphopic fashion-chunks of thick metal being flung outward. Those are rare failures that usually occur without warning at WOT with super-high-horsepower engines out of balance being rev'd well in excess of 8500rpm like the moron in one of the 1st gen burnout mpeg videos floating around out there.
I guess both of my times it occured at a miss-shift between 1st and 2nd gear trying to show off. I think in my case, the clutch material is the weakest link, and breaks before the flywheel will, I Hope... Both occured at ~8000+rpm mis-shifts-grinding into 2nd and BOTH were in the mildport, not the bridgeport I drive now. Both were with shitty replacement clutches, one slipped 2months after I installed it infact, so I figure it had a crack in it and when I shifted at 8KRPM, it finally gave out. Don't skimp, get a NEW quality clutch kit that you can afford....and shift smoothly, don't try to power shift except in a timed 1/4mile run, otherwise whats the point except to try to impress someone other then yourself?
I will get a balistic blanket next time I have the tranny out, those are cheaper then any shield I've seen out there and just as effective.

i hit the reline buzzer one time at the track, i missed third gear at 6500 and slammed the gas, and i think it went to around 7500. the buzzer scared the **** out of me because i didnt know i had one. i thought someone was behind me and hit a horn ive hit a few other times..
with all these peopel hitting beyond redline.. how bad exactly is it? i heard the rotors start contacting the housings.. is that true? my motor/car has 140k miles on it (probably never saw above 3-4k before i bought it so its in really good shape for waht it counts.. ive done it acouple times and im kinda worried. i mean, i plan on a 13b sway anyways, but i still want the motor as a spare.

I have owned this 7 for 3 yrs,this is my second 7.
I do my own work on my car drive this car on the track and on the road..so what dont I understand?
I can tell when im up there on RPMs when the engine screams.Thats why there a visual tac there, all other cars dont come factory with redline buzzers what you cant live without one?
Just line up 5/ 3in round trailor lights on your dash and hook it up to your buzzer so it will warn you that you have hit redline.

You need to redline that rotary once in a while to wake it up.I cant belive how some people put it out as a sin to redline your engine,Keep in mind rotarys get most of its power in higer RPM range and most of you normal drivers probally has not hit redline cause of no need of it..
I figure if I shoot a seal this will give me more reason to rebuild this engine,I got 2 other cars and a 10 AE should be home soon.

most ppl think that shifting is 2nd nature. true, with the exception of battling one or more ppl while going thru a 2nd gear turn.
