question about battery power

hey t here i have a question
im wondering how i can get my 83 rx7 gs to put out more power, not horsepower, but electrical power
if i am running my radar detector, stereo, lights, defrost and fan it cant handle it all
all the other cars at my house would be able to handle it, but mine cant
would it be possible to make it so my stereo can maybe like hold more power, maybe by a capacitor or something?
or is there something out there that can give me more eletrcial power, maybe a new alternator?
im not sure but any ideas? thanks

definatly get a new alternator, if you have a local rebuild shop. they should be able to take your case and just build it up, i had the same problem with my 91 buick, and they built it up to 110 amps instead of the 80 or 85 stock, it only cost me 75 bucks too. so just check that out, if you could get that baby to pump out 100 amps you will be able to run whatever you want.

The stock unit is 55 Amps...

The 86-88 Alternator is 70 Amps... It's a direct swap in, almost... It needs some spacers (washers) to bolt to the engine.

The 89-91 Alternator is 80 Amps... It's as easy to put in as the 86-88, but the plug is different... Just two wires changed and you're good...

The 3rd gen alternator is 90 Amps. It needs a pulley swap and a plug change. I'm not sure how it'll bolt on though.

Then you need a large gauge wire to go from the alternator output to the Positive attery terminal. Don't forget the fuse.

Before you spend too much money, you may want to try upgrading the ground wires around the battery and alternator.

The way I see it, it may solve your problem, and if it doesn't, you'll probably need to do it if you install a bigger alternator anyway, so no harm done.

In order...
And a capacitor like you're thinking, if you're thinking like "Lightning" caps, is for bass response in a car audio system....it is a very short term power source that won't solve the problems you have...
