I love having two seats for EXACTLY the same reason. Plus with 2 + 2, nobody wants to sit in the back anyway.

So I was checking the VIN on my 85, and it seems it was made in the USA... I thought they never released the FB with backseats in the US?

They certainly don't look aftermarket, as the upholstery is the exact same as the front seats and the fit is perfect.

Anyone have any info on this?

They were probably not originally in the car, if you have the back seats. Since they bolt right in, it wouldn't be that strange for the previous owner to have put the seats in.

The only thing thats good about a rear seat. is the ability to fold down.

I'm going to put a backseat in the 7 that I send to france for our use there. We have a 4 yr. old granddaughter to drive from Paris to the South of France. That way I have a better car to drive when we are at my wifes country house.

I have an Australian (Funny that, seeing as I am in Australia) 1983 "7". Over here things are a little different to what most of you guys have. I have factory fitted as standard, back seats, with really deep sunken in buckets, two back seat belts and all matching interior. I have 2 kids (5 and 12) and cart 'em both 'round happily, mind you, my 12 year old daughter has to move her set forward to allow room for my 5 year old son, sitting on his booster seat, in the back. I had to put a piece of timber across the sunken bucket in the seat, to allow his booster seat in there. believe me, there aint alot of room. I also had to get an extension for his seat belt as once the timber and the booster is in, it's almost impossible to get at his belt! Other differences I have noticed are - my front light washers, clear lenses for front driving/parking lights, turn signal indicator missing from side, rear licence plate mounted in-between the lights, not below the bumper like yours. And we don't seem to call them SLE's , SL's etc. . .I wouldn't have a clue what mine was, it has Power mirrors, power gas tank release, power windows, Air conditioning. . .(no cruise, no power steering an no sunroof).

All european ones had rear seats too, kinda funny: some of you guys want to put backseats in, while I just threw mine out.

When you keep talking about these rearseats I just cant help adding this..

They are no seats! They just look that way..
To be any sort of comfortable you need to remove the frontseats!

We did acually ride 5 adults in my car one time.. but I dont recommend it!

To use the rearseats you need a midgetdirver or maybe children in the rear..

funny you should say that magnus. When I took the front seats out of my parts car I back it down the drive (down a hill ... it had no engine, doors , seats trim etc. etc.) by sitting on the back seat ! was quite comfortable, must remember to mount my bucket seats nice and far back.

Hey Magnus, FIVE adults??? You guys are crazy overthere in Sweden!
Anyways, I guess they just want them to be able to take the kids for a ride (like I want to buy an NSU Ro80 for that ). I have a set of rearseats for a '82 FB, and a set for a FC (maroon/brownish red). But shipping is like impossible. Bliffle, just drive to Belgium when you're in France, and pick them up

I understand: shipping is wretched. I may ship my 85GSL Silver with red leather interior (and only 55k miles) in november and pick it up, say, in Marseille. Since I won't be with the wife I could drive up to Belgium. Nice excursion.

Lightbulb ATTTN: Euro RXers

Hey, I have a backseat I need to get installed in my SE (we have a new addition to the family).

I managed to get a backseat from a local junkyard, but they dumb-asses crushed the car before they got the mounting hardware out.

All I need is the hardware to fit it in my car.

If any of you euro guys can help, lemme know your price.

THANKS!!!
