Hot/Cold NGK's

Any advantages or disadvantages to running hot NGK BR8EQ-14's in the leading and cold NGK BR9EQ-14's in the trailing? What can I expect to happen from doing so?

Hotter plug will just stay cleaner by it's self. That may sound good but they are also more prone to detonate. I run 9's in all 4.

i use to run B9EV's in leading and B10EV's in trailing and the diference i found was the colder the spark plug the harder to start the car

Yes it's being a bitch to start with the cold plugs in the leading holes. I switched them back to the hot plugs and left the cold ones in for the trailing. It takes till normal operating temp before the trailing's seem to fire. Runs really weird under boost. Whenever I hit 8,000 under high boost it sort of misfires and flames shoot out of the exhaust. If I switch back to the colder plugs for leading and trailing, it's like I have to start the car every day just to keep it running right. I've noticed my redline was a LOT higher using the colder plugs. The boost also seemed to explode at much higher rpm's.

I noticed that 9's were fowling in my 12a mildport turbo unless I drove it hard consently. I now am running 7's in the leading, trailing with 9's like a stock TII. I'm sure it will be fine for my usage now. If I were to go to the road course, I would run 9's in all L's T's.

This is my first time trying the NGK BR9EQ-14's. I didn't realize swtiching from the BR8EQ-14's to the 9's would be such a drastic change. Mazdatrix recommended it to prevent detonation. It's such a bitch to start so I might just end up keeping the 8's all around since the weather is turning colder. But damn I just spent 30 bucks on the 9's and I won't even be using them.

the guys at mazdatrix know their stuff. dave's owned rotaries for a long time and DOMINATED SCCA EP National racing in SoCal this year and kicked butt in Pro7 last year.

I used 3rd gen Platinum 9's in my 81 streetport year round in SoCal where winter gets down to 40 degrees lowest in the winter. 9's should work fine in NY in September.
