pully question(not about dual sheave)

My air pump has been removed and my p/s is next due to the fact you really dont need it on our cars. My question is my water pump pully has 2 grooves on it and my main has 3, deos anyone know of pulleys that just have 1 on them? As it is right now the belt desnt squeek but i wanna clean up the front of my engine.

You should have two sheaves on your main pulley, with an accessory pulley bolted to the end of it (which is larger diameter). The additional pulley had either 1 or 2 sheaves, and was for A/C and Power Steering. You can take the bolts off your main pulley and see it separate into two - throw the big one away, and run on just your base main pulley.

No options for a 1 sheave main pulley, as far as I know.

from what i read most people run two belts because of problems with the water pump at higher rpms can cause it to slip. i belive racingbeat.com sells what your looking for.

could try a gilmer drive setup like this............................

this is what iam going to do since i dont have to run the smog pump. most people who i have talked to loved them or hated them because the sound the belt makes kinda like a super chager.

www.tweakit.net has them for most years for rx7's . you best bet is to find a kiwi on this site and have them buy a set and send it to them. thats how iam going to get my set.

one good thing about going with this gilmer drive setup is you can get the replacement belts easy from a few makers. when you run two belts you have to deal with one belt being too tight or loose.

^^ HAHAHAHA holy ****....what a monster. i dont really need a dual sheave alt pully or a gilmer because it dont squeal.

But it looks like the rout im gunna have to take though. Ill just pick up a junkyard alt with a dual sheave on it and save ~$50.

Or i could always chuck my main pully up in the lathe and take the extra groove off too.

I don't mean to tread jack.
Who makes a dual sheave alt pully that is not underdrive and is not $50.

go to the junk yard and look for a small shaft alternator-15mm. there are several cars that use them 1 being a dodge caravan. steal the pulley and mount it on yours. it all depands on how much you get the junk alt for really
