There is a way to connect a test light to a connector near the ECU and it will flash any trouble codes every time you turn the ECU on. I've done it on mine any it only flashed a trouble code once, when I was trying to start it with the Secondary coil lead off. It flashed a "No RPM signal" code.

If you open the 1st Gen FAQs post you'll find a link to the topic in there.

I couldn't find a direct link to it in the faq, but I am checking out the pdf of the fsm, it will probably be in there.

SE's don't 'store' codes, they are displayed real-time during engine performance because this was before the technolog of OBDII with memory available to capture and report codes after the fact.

For this reason, the post above is correct that you can create a test-light configuration from your ECU lead to gather codes as they occur. This may help diagnose a poor TPS signal, or AFM, but is pretty limited in what you can determine. The light is used as a 'counter' to go back to the FSM and get what the series of light flashes can be translated into for troubleshooting. The first 'set' of flashes is the first digit, with the second 'set' of flashes being the 2nd digit in the code. Look up the code in the FSM, and it will tell you what to start looking at.

Not very useful unless you've exhausted all other troubleshooting options, but it's there for the adventurous...
