Prospective Seven buy-Pics insided & Help needed!

Found a Seven not too far away from me I'd like to pick up. I emailed him, it does run, just not well.
It is actually a 1982. There is plenty of fuel getting to the carb. That is not the problem. And if I can get the car started and I poor fuel directly into the carb. the car runs fine and idles ok and everything. But if I don't poor the fuel directly into the carb then I have to pump the gas pedal to keep it running and the car wont idle. I have taken it out on my road and drove it a couple of times but I had to pump the gas pedal to keep it going, But it does run great if you just poor the gas directly into the engine. So that is what makes me think it is just a carb. problem. How does $400 sound? and I will let you take whatever other parts you want off of the other car, they are the same year.
What do ya'll think it'll take to work?

Now, to me, because of the interior, it doesn't look like an FB, but an SA. The radio, gauge cluster, shifter and wheel all cue me in on it.

Series 2 FB's (81-83) have different interiors than series 3's (84-85). It's definitely a series 2 FB. I would guess that it probably needs a carb rebuild/tuneup. I would almost buy that car just for the wheels (that means if you end up buying it and want to sell them pm me. )

I want to limp it home then diagnose any other problems. I don't think it'd make it 70~ miles. If gas is poured in the carb he says it starts...I think it might be a dirty carb, cleaning wouldn't hurt it. For the price it might be worth just the wheels.

The mesh wheels are definitely beautiful. You could always get a tow dolly from u-haul if you have a way to pull it home. Or start to make friends with someone that has a trailer...

Disconnect fuel line to carb - see what kind of flow you are getting just be real careful where the gas goes - dont let it hit the hot engine etc. - if bad,
change the fuel filter near the fuel pump - then see if flow is sufficient
There are filters in the carb - they may be plugged as well

Buy it. Parting it out would make alot more than $400, and if its something simple you have yourself a great car.

Well, for $500 he'll bring it to me. There is no rust on the undercarriage, and just a touch of surface rust on the door. Interior is just...gone, though, as you may see. This will be a DD/resto project.
