ON Projector lights?

Has anyone had any experience with them? I've found a few sets on ebay set up for H6024Bulbs but I dont know if they're worth it...

My Rx has POOR light out put as its still Sealed beam, I usually drive with my Highs on at all times (unless another car passes of course) because I can bearly see.

I want to keep it looking as OEM as possible so I dont want to swap out the pop-ups for HID's as they're expensive..

The set im looking at are these,

Click

These also leave it open for me to go HID in the long run, as they take standard H6024 bulbs.

Mainly I'm looking for a better out put, any help would be great.

Also I've heard you need to upgrade the wiring when converting from Sealed beam?

I have a set of those. there not as nice looking as the pic. also I don't care for the little blue light. I didn't see it when I bought mine. There alright I guess. I've only had 1 issue, and it was do to a faulty bulb I'm guessing, but it melted the plug and burnt out. I had to replace it but its just an H4 connection 4 bucks at most auto parts stores.

Junk. I wouldn't waste your time with eBay lights like that. If you can barely see with your headlights you need to replace them as they are worn out. A properly operating sealed beam light should give you the exact same output as a standard halogen bulb. My reccomendation is getting either new sealed beams, Sylvania Silverstar sealed beams, or going with an H4 housing and whatever halogen bulb you like. I have Black Dragon Automotive's H4 housings and Sylvania Silverstar Ultra 9003 bulbs in my RX right now and it's hands down the best lighting you can do short of HID's. Hella also makes super nice Housings.

I DID purchase a set as I was interested in the black housing ones with the city lights. They were installed for all of 15 minutes and this is what I observed..
1. POOR projection - The pattern was scattered and not illuminating what I needed it to...the road!
2. They came with 100/90w bulbs and were STILL not bright enough
3. While removing them - after 15 minutes mind you - the back of the housing was EXTREMELY HOT. I can only imagine what the fire hazzard would have been if I kept them in any longer!

I returned the Hella H4 bulbs back in and returned the projectors to the seller. It is MY opinion you stay away from these projectors!

Don't bother. The best lighting upgrade is an H4 conversion with either cibie or hella e-code housings. http://www.rallylights.com/detail.aspx?ID=739

Expensive but they really work. I've had both and there is no comparison in the quality and light output of the hellas. Just make sure you get the e-code ones. I've also convinced at least four others to get those lights and they have all been thrilled.

As for wiring upgrades, you don't need the high output harness with these kits.. I've used both and unless your stock wiring is really corroded or the contacts in your switch are dirty you won't notice a difference.

And just for the record, NEVER EVER use bulbs that have a higher wattage output than stock unless you replace all the wiring with heavy duty wiring. Excess wattage WILL melt the harnesses and can cause a fire. 90w and 100w bulbs are nearly double the factory wattage and as you observed, will cause a fire in a hurry

Yup. Use a 55/60 watt bulb. You don't need anything more.

Both Lights are new However the only ones they had were Crappy GE ones ($10 each) so thats probably my biggest issue there. I wasnt even Aware Sylvania made them! I had Sylvania's in both of my Prior VW's and loved them I got flashed with my low beams in my golf all the time. I'll have to hunt a set down.

I may spend the Extra cash on these this winter, Im splurging on an RB Exhaust and possibly a Sterling Nikki if I have money after the Exhaust lol. It wont be on the road from the first sign of winter until AFTER the last frost for sure.

Thanks for the help guys! Keep it coming!

Not going to knock the sealed beams, but even with an expensive sealed beam (CT used to sell the silverstar sealed beam at 30$ each, whereas you can get the hella conversion for only 40$ more) you wont get the same output as a conversion. The lens on a sealed beam light is just not made with the same quality and attention to best light output. The lenses on a conversion kit are more expensive but also more refined as you intend to reuse the lens, whereas a sealed beam is intended to be cheap and disposable. You sacrifice quality for cost.

I'll agree that conversions are functionally better, but even modern sealed-beam halogens (I've had the Sylvania Silverstars for years now) are a serious step up from the old original stock bulbs.

I'd call modern sealed-beams a 7.5, full-up conversions a 9.5... and original vintage bulbs a generous 4.

you can hella H4 conversion here http://www.classicgarage.com/hel7rounh4he.html for less that the other site and its only about 10-15 more than silverstars each. this is the route that i plan on going i once i get the money and time, i also added relays to my high and low beams which has helped out quite a bit.

Make sure those hellas are the e-code version, not the DOT version. E-code has much better light pattern and a clear cutoff.

Yeah modern sealed beams should give you plenty of light out put for a stock application. If they are weak enough where you can't see with the low beams you either need to re-aim your headlights, clean up the sockets, or your wiring is shot. There's definitely something wrong there that needs to be addressed before changing anything. I sell standard Sylvania Sealed beam H6024's at work for $10. They give the same light output as regular Halogens.

Go with Hella E-codes and brighter bulbs, I run 100/60w bulbs. Upgrade the wiring harness to get the most electrical power possible to the lights. I have run E-codes on my past 2 vehicles. The beam pattern is awesome.

Have to agree with everyone.

I did the H4 conversion and did a write up. I you search for my SN and H4 or something I have pics of the install. Works awesome. I have the "yellow" h4s...and it is much brighter and looks better.

I can't remember if the Hella are rated for 100W. I personally use Philips VisionPlus 55/60W bulbs. They work amazingly.

I just picked up a set of Silverstars at Pep Boys. They are 19.99 each plus tax. So, $42. Not bad and they will beat my mismatched set that I have in there right now.

I drove at night on an unlit road for the first time yesterday and scared the crap out of myself. I will pay $40 to get some decent lights that I am not over driving at 60 mph.

I would go with the Silverstar sealed bulbs, unless you actually enjoy wiring. Also, check out the link in my sig to a GB interest thread for a real DOT approved (use Infiniti FX projectors) HID kit. Kinda steep @ ~$750, but you can't beat DOT HID's.

Yes that is steep. I just put in the sealed Silverstars. Remove six screws per light and loosen three. Pop out, pop in, replace screws. Took me ten minutes tops.
