Project Update (Couple of pics)

OK for those that are interested I finally got round to taking a couple more photos. Still a fair bit that needs to be done. At the moment progress has slowed as I have to rely on tradespeople to do the jobs that I can't do (or don't want to screw up). Alrighty time for some pics!!!

Couldn't really fit the entire car in because I was too lazy to push the car out.

Before I get heaps of replies asking what bodykit it is, please check out www.selectmaz.com.au

As you can see I've still got the original wheels on the front. This is one of the jobs that I'm waiting for. On the front there will be series 3 struts with coilovers and series 5 brakes and yes it is possible with a small amount of modification. Also another point that everyone seems to make is that it needs to be lowered. I realise this but the fact that the guards have been rolled and it's only sitting on the original springs (which will be replaced) in the back don't help.

Wheels that are going on it came with the car. They were pretty scraped up so I got them machined and polished around the outside and they turned out pretty good.

Interior is still a mess and is currently stripped out as I am waiting for the autoelectrican to show up and rewire everything inside the car. Well as I was typing that sentence he called me and said he will be coming on Monday! I was going to go for a completely custom interior but managed to find a grey interior (was originally red) in nearly perfect condition.

Going to put some decent seats and harnesses in though.

The best part of the car for last! The engine is in and running just need to do a few small things such as buy a wastegate. The only difference from the photo that I put up ages ago is that the radiator and intercooler are mounted a bit lower and some piping for the radiator is now behind so the hood is able to be closed properly.

Things left to do on the list:
- Get interior back in as soon as the autoelectrician is finished.
- Find another diff (current one is making strange noises and doesn't have any brakes)
- Need an exhaust
- And the millions of other little things that need to be done to get it on the road.

Can't wait!

damn dude!!!

i've been waiting to see the updates for a long time...i remember when i started frequenting these boards you had your car posted, and i never forgot it. the altima "ss" kit is in my opinion the nicest one out there, and i wish i could bring it over to canada, but apparently its going to be around $2400 shipped (although that came with a TII style hood scoop, u didn't want one?....how was the bumper fitment? i hear there's issues with that bumper fitting properly, and i heard the finished product isn't quite as tough as stock.

u know i was just looking on ebay at seats identical to those....i assume those are the cheap generic seats from ebay correct? the ones i was looking at had "mazdaspeed" written near the top, but im sure they could have anything written up there.

gotta love the yellow color too. i too have just got an 85 gsl. its yellow, and has some real nice skirts on her, and i picked up a 3 piece urethane air dam as well. i'll be grabbing up those "mazdaspeed" seats soon, along with many other things. first i gotta get her running though (just stock 12a). (oh, my interior came grey. hahaha so i lucked out"

i think that's sweet you're going the distance to install the FD suspension, and you've already swapped the rear end....how many horse are you looking to get? and what is that setup???? its looks so clean you could eat off it!!!!! nice car

nick

make sure you keep us updated!!!

Yeah the seats are just a couple I got off ebay. When I opened them I was really suprised at the quality and they got to me in less than a week so I was impressed. It's not really FD suspension. It will be FB struts with coilovers welded on and FC brakes so it will still be an improvement. Also got Koni shocks for the front and back.

At the moment for power we've estimated at around 350rwhp but will have to wait and see until I can get it on the road then get it properly tuned. I'll try and get a video up of it idling. Really LOUD and got the nice brap brap idle controlled by EMS computer. Idle is set to 1000rpm but it jumps around between 1000 and 650. The main problem with making big power will probably be the turbo. Currently has a T04z but that should be good for 350hp. I don't want to go too crazy as I plan on using this as a daily driver.

Forgot about the front bumper. It did require a bit of modification to fit properly. As you can see from the pics of the original kit there is a dip in the middle of the bumper that was also removed before it was put on.

to find those seats, go to ebay and type in "mazdaspeed" in the search. you will find the exact same seats available in all different colors, with "mazdaspeed" written on the top. they cost only $86, and $150 shipping in the U.S. or $200 to canada. im gunna definately get myself a pair. at that price you'd think they are pure garbage, but if he says they look alright, then maybe they are. they sure look sweet.

The seats still cost me a bit more than I would have liked to pay but they seem to be really comfy and decent quality. At the moment I can't say if I'd recommend them as they haven't even been in the car yet so there may be problems getting them in, but I'll keep everyone updated.

Got a video of the car starting. Anyone know any good places to host it?
