Project planning, couple of questions

Hey all, my buddy and I are starting to get ready to start his newest project... a 4g63 FB. The car is an '83 that had a 12a, which is now gone. He was going to go the V8 route, but after some thought he decided to go 4g63 to be more original but also because we have tons of experience working on my Talon (and I have damn near all the parts hes going to need for the swap). I should mention we want to retain the streetability of the car, but we arent too worried about being legal or a few extra vibrations etc. It'll be running a Big 16g right out of the shop and hopefully by the end of the summer she'll be running around 300 rwhp. Like I said, it'll mostly be used for just fun street driving and having a good time on an auto-x, road, and/or 1/4 mile track but not extremely competitive in any one. I'm feeling pretty good about the project so far, but theres a couple things worrying me. Also, I did search before making the thread.

First off, the differential. I know its not an LSD, but we're going to need one. Is the GSL-SE rear end a bolt in deal? If not I think we're just going to use his Ford 8.8, but in the interest of doing things the easy way we just wanted to check into the GSL-SE rear first.

Secondly, the tranny. We're going to use a wideblock 4g63 which will allow us to use the Starion tranny. The only thing I am worried about is shifter position. Anyone have any idea on the distance from the shifter to the firewall and from the shifter to where the tranny and motor meet on the 12a's tranny? If the shifter position is going to be too jacked up, there is another option using a Mazda bell housing and a 13b RX7 tranny, but that would be a good bit more expensive and the Mazda bellhousing isnt easy to find so we'd like to avoid that.

Lastly, the wiring. I dont know enough about it to ask any questions though, so I'll post up if I think of any.

Thanks in advance guys!
