Can you explain further? links?
Something tells me that the "fix" only keeps the car from going into limp mode long enough for you to dyno, then it goes into it. So its just a few seconds of time to get the runs in.

Yeah we figured it out at work, you have to hold the DSC button for 5 seconds, rather than just pushing it.

Right now I am running the Carb. The Haltech unit was defective and I sent it back to AUS.

It should be back by late February.

Mel, i don't think he's going to the drag race 10 grand
dump the clutch type of abuse. He wants a fire breathing
wide body 1st gen. no wide body drag cars. we all know
370-400 horse power will eat a stock rearend for lunch.
ajc13b (steve brown) went through a couple of rearends
drag racing, if anybody knows how to , and how much
a rearend will run that can handle that kind of power
he does. remember that DF.

Trust me, a Ford 8.8 rear is in the works..
Here, here...
I'm trying to work out the details right now, but I'm considering a ford 8.8 using two of the short axles/housing from a ford ranger (I estimate it will narrow the rear 1.5-2.5" if using the stock drums), then using the Lincoln Towncar/Mark VIII disk brakes (which should bring the track out to near-stock location). The only hitch is the fact that the Rangers use a 5x4.5 pattern...

Of course then I'd have to somehow upgrade to 5-lug TII/GXL hubs and rotors in the front to compensate

DF, What are your ideas on a 8.8?

*cries* I want a turbo'd fb. I guess I should work on just getting my 88 TII running first, but ya, I've always wanted a turbo first gen, and hopefully some day I'll own one. So yummy, so fast, so awesomely old school.

You can get a GSL-SE front, and Re-Drill them to 5 lug too. I am not sure about the Ranger axle, I don't know if it's centered, or how wide.

Seemd like the old 5.0's are an almost exact fit though.
When I am ready, I will definately talk to those who know alot more about them than I do.

BTW, Eville140 here has quite the extensive knowledge on them.

Fords are some tough ****. If i remember right a lincoln versigh, ??? it looks just like the granada,4 door, anyway. has a 9', rear disk brake, thats the one that bolts up to the mustangs, bullet proof ! i don't know what ford performance parts are still around, i'd say a ford 8' ,3rd member, zooms, make the 3rd member nodg-u-ler iron, and detroit locker ,or better. Or buy a lenco pro street rearend, but thats toooo much money.
IMO

I was JUST thinking last night about going blowthrough for "simplicity" to start with (like ioTus), maybe using a DCO carb though, then later when I can afford it switching it out for an EFI throttle body. I would still run a stage 2 turbo and stuff, but do you think I could pull off 350 with a blow through stock port 13BT and modded turbo?

EDIT: Heres what the site says about the turbo I plan on getting:
Anyone?

OOps. Sorry TJ, I missed it. No, with a "modded" stock turbo, the answer is no. Not 350.

275, 300 maybe. It's not just a turbo, it's the combination of everything. The exhaust manifolf, the exhaust, the intercooler efficiency, the ignition system, - they all have to be sized accordingly relative to each other.

Please note that at 12PSI (315HP), my car is already SUPER fast. I think even 275-300hp is a shitload of HP on a 1st Gen.

Hey DF,

When you switched to carb, what kind of mods did you do to the fuel system? New pump and everything, or just a return style pressure regulator?

The fuel system you had before was SICK. I'd be a shame to not use it some how on the holley.

Oh and RMD,

Why are you only going to run a stock port? Its not too much more, and a really great thing to do while the motor is apart. I so wish I had streetported my motor when I had the chance. Now I'm kicking myself in the ***.

Same Fuel system, Same Pump, only a new regulator.
(Mallory 4309)

I do need to change the pump location. It's louder than the exhaust at idle. I think I am gonna mount it on the back bumper.

When I shut the pump off (with the switch), the car runs off the fuel bowls. Man, it's quiet then. Sounds like a 100% Stock GSL-SE
