Progress on my car. WIth pics :D

Well time for a little update, I haven't had much time to work on it but the past couple weekends I've dedicated myself to work on the Megasquirt and I did. There's some good news, but not the greatest.
I finally was able to get the engine running but with a few issues. It cranks up pretty easily, I guess thats an achievement of its own, but on the down side it idles at around 4k rpm right now, and I could only get the trailling coil to fire up. The leading just doesn't seem like to want to give out spark for some reason. It gets power to it, and gets the proper trigger signal, but just doesn't seem to want to fire up for some weird reason. I hope that Aaron could swing by sometime to check things out and help me out with it.
Another issue is, as soon as she runs for about 30 seconds, my header wrap starts smoking and is starting to turn black, Makes me wonder if my Headers are turning red hot. But me hooking up my EGT guage on it my one side shows about 250*F difference inbetween them. Not sure if its an injector problem, or just ignition problem, or maybe just location of the EGT's. I'll try to swap the wires out tomorrow to see if I get any difference inbetween them, and if I do it should be something easy to fix, but if not ... I think my first bet would be Injectors not properly flow tested. Which I might do anyways.
Besides that, she seems to be going pretty good. I still have to get rid of the other shell, I need to take off a couple more things from it tomorrow, and she should be out of there by the end of week. As far as the new shell goes, I Finally got the name transferred to mine, but now I need to do a Structural Inspection on it and I should have that in maybe 2 weeks time. So things are looking promising that I'll have it done in time for my tuning session.
And before I forget, I should have a couple of videos tomorrow

It sounds absolutly evil as well. Sam called me when he got her fired up and revved it for me. even through the phone it sounded awesome, so I can't wait to here this thing in person when shes running %100. Don't forget, I may still want that hood if you don't need it. I'll see ya when I'm back from DGRR.

Congrats on getting it running!!
I wouldn't worry about the 4k idle thing until you have leading spark happening. On trailing only you will have a hard time idling at normal rpm's.
Great to hear it started pretty easy too... I've had mega for a long time now and still haven't perfected the start lol...
If you have a big screwdriver, you can hold the handle to your ear, and touch each injector with the other end... alternatively use a hose and when the cars running have a listen to each, you should be able to hear them clicking.. That would rule out electrical issues... there could be a blockage i guess and that could be causing the temperature difference.
Good luck! Looking forward to hearing about your progress!
Paul.

Holy crap! It runs! Congrats!
What was the problem?
The EGT difference may be due to unbalanced injectors, or something simple like a fouled plug. Flooding will kill plugs quickly and cause them to misfire.

Hey Aaron, I still need you to come and figure out what going one with the leading coil as its not sparking, I just too the trailing coil spark plug wires and stuck them on the leading plugs to get it going.
Also to get my Pulse Width down from ~14ms, I went in to the coolant enrichment menu and and had to change all the enrichment down to a 100% instead of the ~250% in there. I can't run it for a prolonge amount of time due to me not having my electric fan in there yet, but I really should finish up the exhaust somtime this week hopefully other wise I'll be driving my neighbourgh crazy.
I'll go out there in a bit to take a video of things really quickly.

Alright, I think that I found out why my Leading Pack Doesn't work, and yes you can call me stupid, apperently I had my wires switched around, 12 volts to where the ecu in is suppose to go, and visa versa. I'll be switching them once I get out of my PJ's lol... Yes I wake up and go straight out side to work on the car.
Also I might not be able to do a video today ... sorry guys and girls, my dad worked the graveyard shift yesterday night, and just me turning the engine over came down in furry, saying he wants to sleep.

Alright, well there won't be any videos today, but I got back in from outside and swapped those wires out, and VOILA! Leading coil working now ... yay finally all the hardware on my Megasquirt working properly, now to finish cleaning up the engine bay wiring on that side and she'll be engine bay perfect ... well almost.

Ha you think so eh? all I have left is to finish the air intake pipe (between turbo and maf, stock won't fit right in my engine bay) and get it all tuned and running right, brakes/suspension/steering is all done. Then again I won't have much time this week to do much, we'll just have to see won't we

Re Oil injection... im currently using the stock oil metering pump setup, which injects oil from the oilpan. As far as I know there are a few options to go with.
1) You can get an adaptor plate that goes between the engine and your oil metering pump which allows you to plumb in a pipe from an external clean oil reservoir for injection. This means you arent injecting the dirty oil from the oilpan which is a plus.
2) You can get an electric oil pump with external reservoir.
If I had the money I'd go for the adaptor plate and seperate reservoir.. just got to remember to keep that filled..
Having another look at your post/pics I realize you dont have anywhere to get the oil in.... lol..
I don't know the technicalities of this as I've never done it but you need to remove the manifold and drill it out, then glue in some thin pipes into each runner so you can inject oil below the throttle body.
I actually need to do this on mine as I have 2 nipples on the rear rotor, and 1 on the front, but i need a second so i can get a balanced map signal and still inject oil to both chambers....
sorry i cant be of much more help

Ya that still needs to be adressed. I have all the parts (I think unless I gave more than what I remembered to Chris for his car). I'll be putting a second gen one in there. The Stock one works fine for now.
A couple more things that need to be adress are the Radiator (I'm thinking to build one myself), and cleaning up that second gen Alternator.

All you gave me was the pedestal, and we relieved the wreckers of that part last year, and your oil cooler, which you replaced with the FC unit. I think that's all you gave me. Looking good. Hopefully I can make it over sometime this week and have a peak at her.

Alright Chris ... I've always given aways parts with me forgetting to get new ones . Not blaming you for anything :P ... actually I think that I have to pick up a few screws for the back storage metal, I believe I gave some to you. the things I do for you ... I should get you to repay me in nuts and bolts
