Ya not sure about that problem yet, It would be nice to know that the megaquirt is atleast fully working to get that out of the way. If its just wiring it would be easy to fix. Everything is just mocked up in there.
I do not have a full shielded wire on it yet, thinking it should atleast fire up fine like that since there shouldn't be much high rpm, or not as much noise. But we could be wrong.
I left a message on Aaron's phone about something that I thought about, since the wires are all sheilded, maybe that rpms spike we see initially is actually just a noise from something, and not actually recording from the CAS ... far stretch but laying ideas on the table.
I'm hoping its just a software glitch or something though.

Hey does the rpm just jump once then fall to 0? This usually indicates you are getting no signal from the VR2 circuit..
If you pull the cas out of the car, turn ignition on, then spin it, and the rpm jumps but returns to 0, the MS is not getting both VR input signals.. as it needs both..
Sure you've wired the VR2 output to the right part of mega? Depending on your firmware version it will be different.. If using MS2Extra 1.x, connect the vr2 output to JP4 on the ms2 cpu board itself.. or MS2Extra 2.x connect to JS10/CPU Pin 17..
Hope you get it sorted soon

Hey,
Thats exactly what it does actually ... I shot Aaron a PM to check that. I actually kinda assumed that I just had the MSExtra 2.X since I uploaded the most recent stuff at the time ... or atleast I thought I did ... Hopefully he can double check that and if thats the case of me having hte 1.X version its a super easy fix just unsolder it from the one to the other. And if that works ... I'll give you a free case of forum beer

Haven't heard back from Aaron yet, so unsure about whats going on with the MS yet.
I just wanted to post that I just received the rest of my rack and pinion kit from Billy, so if I'm not going to be working on my ECU this weekend I'll be doing that probably.

I hope you have a nice warm spot to work in Sam, because it hit -25C with the wind chill here this morning!
Mine's safely stowed away for winter but we've been working on Marc's in his garage... we were happy when the heaters finally brought it up to 10C! Then of course we had to open the garage door to start the engine, lol.

Jon, just buy a length of hose to put on the exhaust, and then stick it under the door.
Sam, if i was on my computer i'd load up the pics i took of your "wiring".

I had to rewire my 'Stim adapter harness since Sam's 'Squirt has the CAS wired differently then I typically do. Pin 1 on the CPU board also somehow broke so I ran a jumper wire to the board (could not find a header pin small enough). With that done I started from a known firmware version (whatever the current 1.0.x version is in the FAQ) and programmed in a base map. Still no luck with the 'Squirt reading the CAS, and I ran out of time yesterday before I could pull out the scope and start tracing the signals. With any luck I'll be able to scope the circuit tonight and figure out what's wrong.

Well now with some time off school back to some more updates on this. I finally got the second window installed because I was waiting on a door handle to arrive before doing that. Also should be getting rid of my old shell in a couple of days to give me more room.
I've been trying to look for rims and I think that I might of found the perfect set for me:
http://www.bbs-usa-appguide.com/publ...fm?CLID=9&WF=1
BBS RG-F is what they're called and for 15x7 rims weight approximately 10.5lb. They are available in 5x114.3 which is where I'm going anyways. Should give the car a nice stance and be light enough to back up its performance.

Well it was wonderful day yesteday ... It wasn't much of a start up as it was only for a few second but she fired up. Finally got the tach on Megatune working properly after much help from Aaron and Muythaibxr and she fired up. Also I don't think my CAS is properly lined up, but I need to find the light bulb holder for my timing gun is missing in action. Its definatly running pig rich also so flooding the engine. Hopefully next weekend or so I would have some more time and if the weather permits also. But Hopefully I can have a video of it running by next sunday. But don't get your hopes up too high
Can someone remind me to fix the fuel leak at the regulator

should probably add a couple more recent pictures. In here you can see how I did my wiring for my megasquirt. It will get all straightned up in the next couple of weeks but as you can see I just made a big T at the windshield area and went from there. Atleast I'm sticking to my plans
Here's how I had it layed out before:
And This is how I have it now:
These are a couple of weeks old pictures so it has improvised a bit. I should be getting one of those T connectors for those plastic wire covering. Definatly getting cleaner step by step. Also I've attached some other pictures of the car, along with its older bother that will be going to the dump we had good times, but the rust on it was just too extensive.

Looking awesome!! All that wiring will be nice and neat with some conduit over it and you should end up with a much neater looking bay without a carby and all the associated emissions junk!
Loving the colour too! I've just moved forward a bit more with my mega tuning.. gonna update my thread now actually.
Keep up the good work and keep us updated!!
Paul.

I just can't wait to put on there some lightweight gold/bronze rims and I'll be golden for exterior looks.
I hope that by mid to end march hopefully have it back on the dyno and get a pretty decent tune on it. April I'll be portmatching my intake, then on May 5th, I'm getting my car tuned by Brian (BDC) who's making a trip down to Ontario. After all that is over with she'll be roaming the street nicely, and also I'm going to try to get it in a few magazines to let people know what the 1st gen RX-7 is still capable of doing, still be as stylish as every magazine's beloved 3rd gen, just added a touch of me to the equation.

Hey Sam, what kind of shape is the hood in on the 7 going to the wreckers? I want to add a NACA duct to feed some fresh air to my Sterling but I would hate to hack up my hood to do it. Let me know if it in good enough shape and I'll buy it from you.
