problems with MSD

Did you cut the two wires that set the unit for 4 (2 rotor), 6 or 8 cylinder? They are under a plastic cap held on by a screw.
I just installed two 6AL's and the rev limiters work great.

There aren't dip switches.
-Veryify that the two wires are cut and not accidentally touching.
-try a different pill, a very low rpm one, I think a 3k pill is also supplied with the 6AL. Try the 6k pill too.
-ohm out the 7k pill, it should be approximately 3.14k ohms.
It is possible, but very rare, that you have a bad box.

You would have to install two separate msd's, one to limit the leading, one for the trailing. It is probably cutting the spark to the leading and the trailing is keeping it going.
