From wires that formerly went to the balast resistor.

there's ur answer. For a quickie troubleshooting, remove all the wires on leading/trailing coils + terminal only (except the wires that goes to the dizzy's igniters). Run a piece of wire from the battery's + terminal to leading/trailing's + terminals.

Wire nuts work fine for trouble shooting.

Here's a quick fix. Grab a fog lights relay. battery to the relay, ground, two terminals IIRC 87 and 87-A hook them up to the coil's + terminal. Now for find a wire in the wire loom that has voltage when the key is ON position. this wire needs to trigger the relay's low voltage. this is your ON & OFF switch. No key, no voltage.

Sorry, cant help you much on the rest as currently, I have a car in the oven.

i found my mistake.
when i hooked up the new positive wires to the coils that go to the ignitors i forgot to put the old positives that supply power to the coils.
now for the soldering and cleaning up.
runs awesome, excellent upgrade.

cant seem to figure out my tach though....

Run the tach off of the leading, not the trailing on the SAs.
