Question Problem with the head-lights (high beam)

I have a problem with the head-lights (high beam). When I turn the head light switch on the lights comes up on the low beam. If I pull the switch to the back the high beams comes on and you can see the high beam symbol on the dash board. But when I push the switch forward to turn the high beam on the head lights turns off and I have to switch back to low beam. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Luism12lm

check your fuses, if it's not that, replace the switch.

Or the headlights. Lot easier to replace them first before the switch.

It's not the fuse, follow this link and the problem will be solved with a little elbow grease.

I have this exact problem. Very likely a dirty contact. I have contact cleaner, I just need to get around to using it. I only really drive in the city though, so I rarely need my brights.

Check your fusible links. If that doesn't fix the problem, here are pics of the inside of the combo switch. http://intertron.com/ron/combo.html

These are the contacts you want to clean.

Thumbs up Problem solved

Problem solved. I used the contact cleaner and a small piece of sandpaper. Thanks Aussie for sending the page and thanks to Kentetsu for taking the time to write and post those instructions. Also thanks to 74RX4 for the photo of the inside of the combo switch.

Thanks,

Luism12lm
