Problem: Engine Idle

Hey, first post, 4 yr-old RX-driver. I have a 85 rx-7, with a 12a engine..and classic choke start. Allright heres my prob. About a year ago, my choke cable snapped, and was forced to replace it. My new one dosn't work so well...but ever since i've installed a new choke unit, my engine has been idleing at 600!! Originally it was idleing at 1100-1200...thing is, if i try to give it gas too fast, i stall..i'm forced to either hold the choke out when i start off, or slowly give it gas and lift on the clutch.

any suggestions for fixing this? ah..and is there a way to get rid of the choke?

Is the engine warmed up and it still does this? Does the choke return to the fixed posistion after it is warmed up? rx7doctor

The simple version is to warm the engine to operating temp and adjust the screw that is next to the throttle cables, its hard to describe without a picture. If you have a fax machine
i could make copies and fax them to you tommorow. rx7doctor
