Preventing theft/vandalism?

I will be having a CD receiver installed in my car soon, it got me to thinking how I can prevent getting ripped off. Other than an expensive car alarm, does anyone have any theft prevention tips they could share?
Just curious if there is anything I can do.

I would say.... no.... only way to protect your CD changer now is to install an alarm.... you can get a basic alarm with dual stage shock sensor and sweet blinking LED for relatively cheap nowadays... and it'll be worth it in the long run.

just another thing to think about: some insurance companies give discounts on your comprehensive coverage when you install an alarm... probably not much, maybe like 5% or something, but jsut another reason to install one

Actually nothing can stop someone from stealing his radio if they wanted it.

true, but there's tons of non-alarmed cars out there that would be easier and less risky to steal stuff from.... a smart theif will jsut walk on by when he sees the blinking light...

About 4 yrs ago, when people started to put big wheels on thier rides,My friedn had all gold 18IN Daytons with Diamond caps on his Chevy.

He had an alarm, removeable steeringwheel, starter kill etc etc..

Someone stole the whole dam car on a towtruck, and took the wheels off of it and left it on bricks about 10 miles from his place.

You could also look at Lo-Jack. The website I believe is lojack.com. A short summary of how it works is that it's a small transmitter that is installed in a secret place on your car. It is not always in the same place and that makes it hard for theives to see it. Once you report your car stolen, the police activate a tracking system which tells them where your LoJack is and subsequently where you car is. Uhhhh, yeah read about it and decide if it's right for you. I've never used it but I learned about it in econ class... (really random I know)
