Lol the rats nest is all of the emissions control stuff on the top of these engines... like 5-6 selenoids and crap... I ripped mine off last year heres a couple pictures of my engine bay with a weber 45 dcoe carb, full racing beat exhaust, holley FPR, carter pump, blaster 2 coils...

Ripping the rats nest was a little scary at first but it is very simple, pratch and rx7carls write up is a must have though for the first timers... I was happy with the results of taking it all off, my biggest advice to you is to find a very heavy gauge plate of steel for making the acv blockoff plate.
