Pre-mixing question
Pre-mixing question
I've been seeing a lot about pre-mixing lately. My question is, my 84 GSL (stock) has a rebuilt engine with about 40k miles on it...(the car has almost 210k)
So, with this engine, it's pretty sturdy and stable as far as I can tell, but my question is, will I notice any difference as far as any kind of performance (and I mean, any at all if I start doing this, or is it pretty much just for the added protection of the engine?
Thanks!

There really is no noticeable difference when adding a quality pre-mix oil. It is for all intent and purposes a lubricant to help extend engine life and reduce chances for failure.
If your OMP is functioning, you may not need to pre-mix. However- there are a lot of folks that believe that using regular motor oil (as the OMP does) is not quite as good as using a quality oil designed for pre-mixing.
Personally- my OMP is functional and I add about 4-6 ozs of MMO at each fill-up. It's cheap insurance.
