Pre-1990 Mustang wheels on a 1st Gen?

From a current ebay auction for a 1979 RX-7 with a V8:

"...The wheels are 4 x 4.25 4 bolt pattern, same as a pre 1990 mustang. 16 inch wheels in the rear, 245/50/16"s tires and the fronts are 205/55/15's. The fronts are like new very low mileage the rear tires are Pirelli and have a few nicks and cuts on the tread but are overall very good. The wheels are american racing alluminum and I have the centers although not shown in the pics..."

Mustang wheels on a 1st gen? Is there something here?

it has adapters on the front and the back is a completly different rear end read it closly and this will stick out.

They would fit the front if the front adaptors were removed

Wow, what a deal on that car.

I'm tempted to drop the 3500 for the buy it now. True, the paint is ****, the carpet needs some serious work, and the engine/tranny aren't there, but what a stereo!!!

Freaking phenomenal what some people expect...
