power windows >>> manual?
is this a hard task to convert to manual windows? ive heard it is, has anyone done this? or is it easier to put a whole new door on (which includes painting and placing numbers). im not sure this will happen, as the car is already below minimum but its a possibility.
and no more rebuilding the damn switches

Window conversion
I find it easier to go from power window to manual unit than manual to pw.
The problem with the mazda power window set up is they have the load of the window motor going thru the switches instead of using relays.
Not sure of the year of your car, but you just need 2 good window regulators (rt/lf) and window winders. And 2 additional bolts for each side to hold the manual regulator. If your door panels are good just drill the whole for the and handles.
Its all bolt up installation, I think you take about 30-45 minutes a side tops.
Good luck,
John

On the 84-85 cars with the molded in armrest and power windows. To switch to manual windows you will also need to get differenet door panels. I had both sides of my 84 GSL converted to manul windows. I was also planning on just making holes for the hand cranks. Well the hole for the hand crank comes out really close to the front of the molded part of te arm rest. And the handle would be able to go on, but you would not be able to crank it becasue it would hit the armrest . I just put the power stuff back on. The power motors are very tiny and lite, I woud venture a guess the the weight saving would be under a 1/4 pound.

i know about the relay mod but i would be doing this for weight purposes not because of the shittiness of the power windows. well that too i guess lol
